Alarms are Evil

Last night I planned to get up early this morning and get my first run of the "official" Chicago training underway. I set out my running clothes, set the alarm, and went to bed full of good intentions.

Yeah. I didn't go.

5:50 am is just too early for me. And the bed is always just right at that hour: So that means I have to save the run for this evening. If I'm going to stick to my new running schedule, there are some days when I won't be afforded the opportunity to do the run in the evening; it will have to get done first thing, so I will have to re-shape my morning attitude. Ugh.

I hear you! I had thoughts of grandeur too but didn't get my clothes laid out or set my alarm early.

The hubby and I are serious about a better diet and more exercise. He rode his bike to work. I felt special by eating my little yogurt, drinking a bottle of water, and having a banana for a snack. Not sure if I will get any exercise in today-it's my long day with work and class tonight but I am thinking more positively about getting out of here on time.

Good luck on the training. As long as you run tonight, you are stil on track. :)

I am so right there with you! I have to really try hard to get it done in the morning. It has to be my only option for the day for me or I just won't do it.

Glad to hear I have some company! I did the same thing this morning - big ambitions to start "real" training, but apparently bigger ambitions to keep hitting snooze. Good luck running tonight. And thanks for the Knocked Up review - I'm dying to see it.

ROFLMAO! You crack me up!! I hear you though!! I'm in the same predicament as you. There are days that I will HAVE to do morning runs, I gotta get myself in gear for this LOL. Don't sweat it!!

I think when you have no choice you'll be able to wake up - just think of the days when you'll be so dedicated that you wake up before your alarm even goes off. Good luck on your run tonight!

Re-shaping is hard. Especially when you are used to sleeping in just a little bit longer! I struggle with that too! Good luck with the start of your training!

Do not...I repeat, do NOT skip any long runs during marathon training. It's OK to skip one of the shorter runs during the week, but skipping the long runs can mean a shitty marathon. Trust me on that. You're OK for now, but when you start getting into the higher (10+ miles) mileage long runs, do them religiously and as on pace as you can possibly be.

You can do it, Jess. It will take time to the new habits back again.

I know the feeling! Heck, it's hard for me to get my butt into gear for a 9am class at the Y, when I know I have to work in the afternoon. What can I say? It's summer break for me. I like my sleep!

And I had to laugh when you said bed feels perfect at the time, I agree 110%! :)
