Running on the Surface of the Sun

Because it is a little cooler today and there's a slight breeze, I figured I could run at 5 pm this evening instead of waiting until 7:30 or 8 when the sun goes down.

That was an asshat idea.

The breeze I'd felt earlier wasn't blowin' on me while I ran, and the clouds parted and a single ray of sunlight beat down upon me the entire way. Granted, I only ran 2 miles, but I was sweatin' like a whore in church, and by the end of those 2 miles, I was cursing myself for my stupidity.

About once each summer I say to myself: "Self, it doesn't feel that hot out here, maybe I'll go run now." Then I have an experience like the one this evening, and I remember that experience until the next summer. Sometimes stupidity is just as cyclical as the seasons.

wow! Humidity is something I hope doesn't plague me for at least another month! It's the worst! Still, you have to feel pretty good about getting out there. Good decisions re: the run and the pedi.

I just came back from biking - that breeze you refer to threatened to blow me over more than a few times and I'd estimate the waves were about 8 feet which is pretty high.

I tell myself it isn't that hot out quite a bit. I lie to myself often...

HA! Sorry you had to endure such heat, but it made for a good post! At least you can go cool off by the pool...

I hate humidity. That's why I usually run in the AM during the summer BEFORE noon.

I personally will use the word 'asshat' in conversation at least 10 times this week. I love it.

Sorry the run was so doggone hot for ya.

That stinks because it really did seem "cooler" today. At least you ran.

I did leave work at 5. First time in weeks (last Wednesday didn't count since I came home and worked after Happy Hour). Too bad I was excited to get home to hop back on the computer and teach. I should have done some exercise...who am I kidding! LOL!

At least you made it out! Just think of the heat invincibility you have probably gained while living down there...Good training for a desert marathon!

Love love: sweating like a whore in church and your use of the word asshat....it's a too underused word for its hilarity
