Niner

This weekend has been incredibly hot; both yesterday and today had temps in the high 90s, so when I went out for my 9 miler, I knew I was facing a hot one. The temp at 7 pm, when I set out was 85 degrees, with 84% humidity and a 77 degree dew point, so the "feels like" temp was about 95.

Thus, the heat did not help create a very fast 9 miler (1:33:52), but at least I plugged along and got it done. Afterward, peeling off my sports bra felt like peeling off a swimsuit -- it was absolutely saturated in sweat, as was my entire running attire. And when I got in the shower, I felt the stingy realization of some under-boob chafing (no amount of Body Glide can protect you from chafing when you get completely soaked like that). Running in that kind of heat and sweating like that isn't much fun, but other than the heat, the running actually went pretty well. Like I said, it wasn't real fast, but the pace felt pretty comfortable, and I'm happy to finish up the week with it.

Now I think I'm gonna settle into bed and have a little ice cream. Delicious Cake Batter ice cream! Yummmmmm.

LOL! It was hot here too on the East Coast and my running buddy and I sweated out 17 miles and I peeled off the darn "bathing suit" too after the run. I will be glad when the temps cool off a bit. Isnt ice cream a dream after a long run?? Blessings from the East Coast.....

Does the word "chaffing" sound painful because of it's meaning or is it just an ugly word on top of it's general nature? I hope it wasn't too bad and heals up before your next run.

I am sick of the heat and sick of the humidity. Don't know how you do it! Nice job on the run. Hope you enjoyed the ice cream.

You deserve the whole tub if you got chaffed under the boobage. YIKES!

That's the way I like to recover after a nine miler, or maybe have some bourbon ;-)

Cake Batter ice cream is a great treat after such a hot 9-miler. Great job!

They had this stuff at my 50 miler that was far superior to body glide. I can't remember what it was called now, but it felt like silicone lubricant. It kept me from rubbing my armpits right off of my body.

Nice job on your long run! I don't know how you do it in the heat. You totally earned the ice cream!

I'd rather be in a bathtub full of ice after a sizzling HOT run. I just don't know how in the world you can run in that kind of condition. I will have to say that you can sign up for next year Badwater competition.

I hear you! Still, a great nine miler!

Its like in the 60's here! I wish it was hotter so I have an excuse for all the ice cream I eat :) You deserved it ... I have no excuse except for "I just really like it"

Good job on the 9 miler. You do so much better in the heat than I do. You'll be rockin' it when you come up here for the 10 miler.

And boy does that ice cream sound good!

Nice job getting the 9 done in that heat. Good luck with the bowling!

You're doing niners now? Holy Crap. Nice work. All too familiar with that shower description. Great job getting it done.

You rock for doing 9 miles in the heat.

I'm told that under boob chafing is THE WORST, but I don't have enough to know myself :-))
