Humid Hump Day

First of all, I won TWO games of raquetball last night! It was pretty swawesome.

Second of all, this morning, I ran a 3 miler with Norah in the Bob and I have one word for that run: HUMID.

I got spoiled by our unseasonably cold winter and cool spring, so now that April's typical heat and humidty are starting to creep back to normal FL levels, I feel like it's a complete blow to the system. This morning, it wasn't too hot (about 70 degrees at 7:30 when we headed out), but the humidity was at 90%. So, I was completely drenched in sweat when we got done, and I was so hot, that I honestly felt a little sick afterward. Thankfully, Norah had fallen asleep on the run, so I had time to sit in front of a fan for a few moments while I sipped my water, and that helped cool me off and make me feel better.

I'm gonna have to buck up and get used to this humidty because this is just the start of it, and really, it wasn't all that bad compared to what it will be once summer gets in full swing -- afterall, the dew point this morning was "only" 67 degrees (in July, it'll be about 73 or 74 degrees on a regular basis).

It's amazing how much difference humidity makes. It was a bit chilly this morning as I rode 3 miles to work from dropping off my car, but I still broke a sweat because it was so humid. The air felt really damp. Maybe I should keep running after work so I can acclimate to the heat before it gets unbearable.

Raquetball victories at night and running in the AM...sounds like you are back to normal.

I'm sweating just thinking about that. In the summer, I enjoy Ontario.

Congrats on the racquetball wins!

I think it always takes time to reacclimate to heat and humidity - and we don't have nearly what you get in Florida.

I should head down to FL for just warm weather marathon training. I would be fully acclimated in a week or so. That's one advantage of living there.

I was jealous of your warm winter runs all winter long but I guess now it is going to switch and I will be glad I am not running in Florida.

Oh yuck - it makes me sick just thinking about that kind of humidity. I'm thankful for the dry heat, here in Utah.

I know how you feel. Spring is over here in Houston. The temps are nice but the humidity is already at the summer levels.

Congrats on winning the raquetball games! I cant imagine running in 90% humidity, that is intense.

Nice job on your wins!

I do not look forward to humidity. It sucks the air right out of your lungs. Hot and humid means running earlier and later in the day to avoid it or sweating myself skinny!

Glad you made it! Stay cook down there!

Well you could have run in the low 30's with me here in Michigan this morning. Work up a good sweat then freeze your buns off trying to stretch. Yes, I love Michigan!

Looking forward to 90% humidity and WARMTH.

Congrats on your win!! Nice!! 90% humid - not so nice! I have the hardest time running in humid weather - any tips you have for me?

yea it won't be long before it will be way to hot to get out there. Enjoy it while you can!

Good luck handling the humidity. I would die. But we all have to put up with the weather where we live. I would rather have the 15 below but that is not for everyone!

I am experiencing running in humidity for the first time here in Thailand. It's bloody horrid. It was 77 deg and 92% a few days ago at 7am. I will so appriciate UK weather when I get there. I feel for you, there is no way I could live in FL. Great wins though. Congrats.

Nice job on your wins in racquetball!

I guess it is getting to be that time of year... having to worry about high temps and humidity!

It's been in the low 70's high 60's the past few days and that is higher than average (58) for this time of year... it's nice though. :)

Congrats on the raquetball victories! I totally agree that the Florida humidity is picking up. I have been here this week and it is reminding me of Texas in the Summer. Can't wait to see how the weather is in another couple of weeks when I come back. Have a great week of running!
