Blue and Blistered No More

I held a little pity party for one last night and did not go running. Instead, I took two Advil and a hot bath, and watched some show on TLC about this family who has 11 kids (seriously, 11? I'm sure some people think this is a beautiful celebration of family, but I watched mainly out of circus freak interest -- haven't these people ever heard of a condom?).

I think I needed the day off, as much as I felt guilty over it. I was just in a foul mood (and yes, I'm sure running would've made me feel better, but I was too grouchy to try) and I needed time to myself with my dark cloud.

Today I feel better and I know my office will work out. I'll get used to the trek, and everything will be fine. But yes, it looks like new shoes are in order.

What I did do yesterday, was my re-do of the initial test in the 100 Push Ups Challenge, which you're supposed to do at the end of week 2 (technically, my week 3). And guess how many I could do? 15! Yay! (Sorry, Marcy, you're right, I won't complain anymore about my lack of upper body strength.) My initial-initial test was 5, so in 3 weeks I've improved threefold! Of course, this means that today, when I start day 1 of week 3, I have to use column 2 and it looks a lot more challenging -- no more single digit reps for me -- gah.

There was a chica on Oprah the other day that had eight kids, and didn't use birth control. What was striking to me was not that she had so many kids, but the fact that she was so in synch and at peace with the joys life brought to her.

Congrats on the push ups. I think you've got me beat now :-)

Way to go on the pushups. Triple in 3 weeks. Amazing job.

11 kids ? I can barely handle my 2.

Isn't there a family in Ar-Kansas that has 17 or 18 kids?

Kinda disgusting and arrogant if you ask me...but to each their own.

WTG on the push-ups! You should do them on a stability ball once in a while for more of a core workout!

Anything over 2 kids and you're playing a zone defense.

I think I'm going to attempt the push up challenge, you all seem to be doing so well with it.

And the very idea of all those kids gives me hives :)

Ouch -- those blisters look like they are some painful ones!

We had a slight hiatus on the 100 push up challenge, but got back on the wagon last night. You're such an inspiration! :)

Strong work, friend.

In a short time, we're going to have a gun show of our very own. :)

Nice job on the pushups...

I love kids to death, but don't know if I would enjoy chasing around 11. Just seems like you would always be doing crowd control. Blech.

Was it the Dugger Family? They're (the kids) all home schooled and they (the parents) don't believe in birth control. I've seen a couple shows on them. I CAN NOT even imagine trying to raise all those children. But hey, as long as it's not me :P

Ohhh Jess it will take me at least 10 weeks to get to your point ROFLMAO!

Oh I need to DVR this program stat. I am obsessed with Jon and Kate... I thought EIGHT was impressive. But ELEVEN!? I can barely handle my dog.

Ouch on your blisters!!!!! That reminds me of one Halloween when I took the kiddos out trick or treating and came home in a similar situation. Everyone was incredulous that I did not change my shoes but I knew they were rubbing but not how bad until we were home. :<(

Nice on the push ups!!!!!

Way to rock the challenge girl! Fantastic progress.

Wow--congrats on the progress.

What's up with these baby factories? You'd think they'd put a clamp on something by child #6.

You've got me beat in the push up arena. I can only do about 4-5 'real' ones before I want to collapse. You are going to have some smoking guns at the end of this challenge!

I am all full with one child. 11 is just obscene. I am still hold out on the push up challnege. I refuse to give in and show my strength by holding out. You will be hitting your 100 soon then get to really rub it in to us weaklings.
