Bug Blanket

Observe this picture: Ignore the fact that I look like poo (I just returned from my run and no one looks pretty then, so shut it); instead, focus on what appears to be the black pox coating my chest and face. No, that's not some New World disease. That's a blanket of bugs. Gnats, to be specific. Lovely, eh?

They went in my eyeballs, in my mouth, and one even flew straight up my nose. There were clouds of them, and despite those clouds, they're gnats so I couldn't spot them until I was in their midst. And I'm sure my sweaty self was like the La Brea Tar Pits for those insects -- they just got mired in my perspiration. Blech. My eyeballs are still red from the assault; next time, I need goggles.

But aside from that, the 3 miler went well:

1: 9:01
2: 8:47
3: 8:57

Total Time: 26:45

This evening? I'm off to bowling! Wish me luck! Mixed with plenty of booze.

Eeek - you are hardcore, man, I wouldn't want to run in that.

Good job on your speedy 3-miler!

That's just nasty. Hopefully the booze will wash away the memories of those annoying little bugs!

Did you just instruct us to focus on your chest?

Oh, yuck. I am surprised that doesn't happen to me more often, as I live in FL too (Orlando).

I'm glad you kept your mouth closed this time :-) None stuck in your teeth ;-) Running goggles eh? LOL!! Have a great night bowling. Toss one back for me. God I miss beer!!!

Do they bugs just hang in the thick air? Yuck!

Wow !!! I am surprised. Its a good thing I don't live down in Fla. Curious? Can you use repellant spray on yourself before you go for your run? I would rather pour the booze on my body to kill those bugs than to drink it.

OMG!! And I thought it was bad the other night when I had 5 stuck on my chest. Dang girl!!

I think the worse ones are the ones that go up your nose, more so then the ones you eat. I hate it when bugs go up my nose.

Nice 3-miler. Good luck with bowling !

I think they must be worse inland...hopefully I'll determine that tomorrow morning. hope you had a good night.

Ugh... reminds me of my last long run by the river a few weeks back. Both legs were coated with them. Blech!

Maybe you can wear your swim goggles while you go out for a run?!

That is crazy. I would feel so gross.

We saw you on the last leg of your run today but refrained from honking. I actually thought you looked like a speed demon!

As for those gnats-I don't think I could suffer through them. They make you itch and want to rub them off but when there are that many, you just look like a car grill. EWE!

I think the next time you do this run and you don goggles, there HAS to be a photo of that.

Ah, yes. The joys of running in the summer! :)

Hope you had fun bowling.

Yuck! Next time you may just want to run with your goggles on. Of course you would probably get many odd stares

-shudders-

Could be worse...could have ended up with them stuck in your teeth. uggh!

Um, I cannot believe you stood and posed with gnats all over you. I would have been freaking ;)

I haven't had bug problems until recently. They get stuck to my shirt and my face--but no way near the amount that got stuck on you! What's really annoying is when they're on your glasses. You can't do anything about those suckers because then you'll smudge your glasses, and things only go downhill from there.

I was thinking about having a hospital mask for when it is muggy and gnatty outside. There is nothing worse than having one of those nasty things fly up your nose.

Enjoy the bugs. It's an Adkins run -- high protein. After a run like that, you can forget about a 4:1 carb:protein recovery drink/meal and just take in the carbs!

Good Job! :)
