Tonight's 4 were certainly harder than yesterday's 3 -- mostly because it was way warmer today, and I'm not Superman, who gets his super-human strength from the yellow sun; not me, I wither in the warmth. The first 3 were fine, but in the last mile, I had to walk for a minute.
Total Time: 38:44
Anyhoo, these last 4 miles of January bring my month's mileage to a grand total of 95 miles.
In previous months and years, I haven't been diligent in tracking my mileage, but I kinda un-officially decided that this year I'm gonna keep track of it. There's something about this running business that eventually makes you a slave to numbers, which is somewhat of a miracle if you consider me -- someone who can't add higher than 12 without a calculator and who used to not even wear her Garmin regularly -- to have become the sort of runner who tracks and records all her mileage and all her times.
What will be next? Upgrading to the 305 and wearing the HR monitor? Oh sweet jesus, that does sound kinda fun...
Welcome to the dark side :-)
91 miles! Holy crap! Nice going there...yeah, I'm already feeding on the running demons. I've only been doing this a few weeks and I'm ready for a Garmin now. Quite an investment, though, so I'm holding off for awhile.
95 miles!! That is awesome!! NO wonder you lost those pounds!
Holy Hannah! Nice mileage lady :)
Dang woman - 91? You crazy.
I always forget the heart rate monitor. It's too damn early to remember everything.
95 miles are worth a couple of beers to celebrate, eh?
I like tracking my mileage for many different reasons. It keeps me honest. It gives me a sense of accomplishment (or not). I can see improvement (or not) when I'm trying to increase distance and course correct as needed. I think its more of a good thing than a bad thing.
Wow! That's three times my month's miles! hehe! Nice job, Jess!
Nice job in January; you beat me by 8!
I second the welcome to the dark side... I can't endorse the HRM though...that'd be too much.
I understand the obsession with numbers. It is an odd thing we do.
Great job on your miles for January! I have seriously fallen off the mileage wagon.
For logging 'em, I use runningahead.com. It's free, and easy to use. Love it. It's cool to look back and check stats for those of us who eventually become a slave to the numbers!
After all this time Wendy finally got a hold of you ;-) Now you'll just have to put up your charts on the side hehe.
WOW! That's an awesome amount to run this month. Way to go!
Graphs, you're going to get graphs!
You're a funny gal, and I enjoy reading your blog.
Keep up the mighty fine work.
Wow! Jess, that's a LOT of miles. You've really crossed over, huh. I like to keep track of mine too, even though I don't run high mileage or run fast. It's just that maybe one day, I will be doing either of those and would like to look back onto it.
it's a slippery slope, jess...soon you'll be figuring your VO2 max, working in lactate threshold runs...posting charts of your elevation gain...kind of like this freak:
That's a heck of a lotta miles, awesome! I can rack up that much this year :-P
I liked that, getting your strength from the sun, LOL!
i saw your comment on doug's site about telling the chicago marathon to "f$3k off." Hilarious! You have a right to feel that way!
95 miles, you beat me by 5 miles. This means war. I officially challenge you to a milage race for the month of February (since it is not as hot as June). On a more serious note, you did outstanding this past month with tracking your milage and weight loss. Give up the soda entirely, and you will loose even more. Go with the 305 and heart rate monitor, it will give you one more set of numbers to keep track of. Oh yea you are an English teacher, not a mathmatition. I will be the first to admit my spelling sucks.
