Parallelism

Today didn't start off that well.

I got up and ate my cereal just like normal and felt fine. Then I took a shower and began to feel like crap. By the time I took Scooter out for a short walk, I knew I was gonna hurl. So I hurried him back inside and barely made it to the bathroom in time before I yakked up all my cereal.

I cleaned myself up and finished getting ready for work, but I felt no better. On my drive in to work, I managed to eat and keep down some crackers, so that by the time I got to my office I was starting to feel improved. By the time I went to my first class, I was feeling almost normal, but then, mid-way through class, I again began to feel sick. Thankfully, I didn't puke in class, but by the time class was over, I had to hussle out and use the nearest bathroom to kneel down and pray to the porcelain gods.

As a side note, I don't think I like granola bars anymore.

The good part is that on Wednesdays, I only teach two classes, so I only had to get through one more, which I did, and then I did some work in my office and went home. But by then, the nausea had passed and I was feeling better. This is only the second puke-cident in the past two weeks, and I was beginning to believe that I was heading out of this nausea-nastiness, but classic preggo karma seems to dictate that the moment you think you're past something it will come back around and kick you in the ass. I'm at 10 and 1/2 weeks, so I'm crossing my fingers that in another 2 weeks, when I'm out of this first trimester, that I will be able to keep my cereal down. Cuz, seriously, that's just a waste of Kashi's whole-grained goodness.

The good news is that by early this evening, I felt normal again. So when Jerry got home from work, he and I went on a 3 mile run together, and it felt good. The weather is cooler today, but it feels refreshing, and it's the perfect temp out there for running. So, when I got home and took a shower after the run, it seemed like a weird parallel to this morning. When I stepped out of the shower this morning, I felt awful: tired, nauseous, ready to ralph; but this evening when I stepped out of the shower I felt the exact opposite: energized, healthy, and ready to eat dinner.

Amazing how much can change in the course of the day.

Glad you didn't show your class your last meal. I hate that feeling and it's so urgent too. Glad you are all better.

You have been going through the whole mix. It will get better. Nice job to you and Jerry on the run.

Glad you are feeling better this evening. I hear ginger helps for nausea. Hopefully you are almost finished with that part.

Really, Jess? You seriously 'hurried' back inside? Screw that. Puke outside...Like a man. Even better, puke on the hood of Jerry's truck. He's the one that did this to you after all.

Hope you are done with the pukies soon! I was so glad when that part of pregnancy was done!

Have you tried having a baggie of crackers by the bed and eating about four before you get up? That helped me.
So wish they could come up with a sure way to deal with nausea. Well I guess they have it's called delivery. Hang in there.

two more weeks...almost out of the woods! Went by fast, huh?

Hoping these next two weeks fly by for you so you can say so long to the puke-cidents!

Wowzers. Hopefully that does pass after the first three months.

I'm jealous of your perfect running weather. It was -5 here this morning - I'm sure that lots of other people can post to even colder temps!

Oye! I am so sorry that you are going through the morning sickness. You definitely make me feel lucky... throwing up is one of the worst feelings. SO SAD! But - right, your 2nd trimester is just around the corner and hopefully you'll be in the clear then.

Hope you get over this nausea soon - that does not sound fun! At least you made up for the 'ick' morning with a pleasant evening.

Things will get better soon. In a couple of weeks, you'll probably really be ready to eat. (I think I ate constantly from about 14 weeks to 30 weeks - I was just so hungry!).

I had dry heaves for the first FOUR months, so the three month marker is not always the miracle its promised to be :)

I have heard that running actually helps with nausea though. Seriously!

Crackers did not sound yummy in any way so I had to find something to snack on.
The trick that worked for me was Cherrios. I had a bag of Cherrios by the bed I would snack on any time I work up in the middle of the night and before getting out of bed.
I even had a bag of them at my desk I would snack on all day.

I just wonder where barfing while pregnant fits into the natural order of things?!? Hang in there!

You're totally tough. Once I hurl, you can count me out for the rest of the day, let alone a 3 mile run!

Any other things that are repulsive foodwise? With me it was anything that smelled fishy - including the prenatel vitamins... yech!
