About Me

My Photo
My real life is a lot like THS (True Hollywood Story) except there's no fame, fortune, or drug addiction. Instead, I'm happily married, have two children, and a dog who's prone to barfing at 3 am. I love them all, but I also have to run away from them every day. I always run back, though.

Fun Day Friday

This evening I went and ran 2.75 miles (26:49). Why that distance? Because Jerry and I ran 4.25 on Wednesday, and you know how I am with even numbers in my running log (re: increasingly growing pile of post-it notes), so there had to be a .75 completed somewhere along the lines, and I just cut my planned 3 miler a little short in order to accomodate the numbers.

The run was the kick-off for the Jess-weekend-of-fun! That's right, Jerry's out of town this weekend (went to the Keys for a weekend of bachelor party debauchery), so it's just me and Scooter for the weekend. Which, call me crazy, I'm looking forward to. I like a little time to myself, and Jerry hardly ever goes out of town without me, plus once this kid comes along I don't think I'm gonna get a whole lot of "Jess time." So what do I have planned for my weekend?

Well, the van full of balloons, midgets, and male strippers should be arriving any minute with a keg of Bud Light and the portable dance floor...

...*sigh*...no, sadly that's not the "fun" times I have planned. But one day, one day, I will get a van like that and it will be spectacular! So, for reals, this evening it's all about the quiet, alone time: I got take-out, rented some movies that I know Jerry doesn't want to see ("Mamma Mia" and "The Duchess"), and I plan on laying on the couch -- or maybe later in bed -- and watching my movies, eating my food, and cuddling Scooter.

Tomorrow night, I'm having some girls over for wine (juice for me -- boo!) and snacks and a pillow fight. Sorry, that last one isn't true, but I wanted to see if the guys were still paying attention. We'll see, based on comments, whether they did or not :)

And Sunday, I'm going to a baby shower for a friend of mine from work.

So, yeah, lots of "chick" stuff. Should be good times. Not as good as times that could be had if I could break into a case of beer, but you know, the most fun a preggo can have. So, I'm off to settle in for the night with my flicks. Enjoy your Friday homies!

Sadly, I too have been looking forward to this weekend. I can't indulge as much as I would like though because I am a single parent. While you are snuggling up to watch a movie and relax, I am waiting for Miller to go down so I can get a couple hours of real work done.

This week was a bear and I have to get a few hours of work in so I can enjoy the rest of the weekend without having a serious panic attack.

So far, Miller had dinner, a bath, story time and I think is asleep. Not bad, 7pm and I can eat and log into my work computer...

That sounds like a wonderful girls' weekend. Hope you guys have a fun time. And ha, ha, why do boys always assume a pillow fight is involved when girls get together?

Sounds like an awesome weekend. I'd totally go for a quiet weekend with movies and my friends if I could ever convince Beer Geek to take the boys and leave...

Yeah...I think you lost the boys at "Mamma Mia" and "The Dutchess" They don't know what they missed.

Have a wonderful weekend. You're right, once the little one is around, you won't have much of that for at about 10 years or so. Then they discover video games, or whatever they'll be playing then, and will ignore you completely for awhile...((sigh))

Every time you write "preggo" I can't help but think about "Prego" the pasta sauce. The second definition makes the post much more confusing.

Bud Light? I expected so much more of you. I know you're not drinking, but if you were, wouldn't you want the best for the fetus.

How was Mamma Mia? I really want to see it. Enjoy your girlie time this weekend!

Ah, love the alone time! My husband doesn't go away much, and he works from home, so the rare times he does have to leave town, I love it. Enjoy your "Jess-time", I know once I became a mom the alone time was much harder to come by. Have fun!

I hope you enjoy your chicky weekend! I also think you should see how long you can go with an uneven number in your running blog. Try to go one month and see how you do. You could even have a countdown on your blog... that would be funny.

My friday night was pretty similar. Movies, dinner and some Wilson time. Today has been about reading and some household chores. Ooohh, so exciting.

OMG, I love it when J goes out of town. He hardly ever does without me, but when he does I go all hog-wild. Same as you, eating, movies and being lazy.

Have fun!
