Weekend Wrap Up

Saturday
We went to scope out potential camcorders. Lately, Jerry has been dedicatedly researching various camcorders since, well, since we got pregnant; for men, it's all about the gadgets. Anyway, in the past few weeks, the decision about which one to buy has reached "stage critical" and he had narrowed his search to 3 potential candidates, and he wanted me to see them and test them in person before ordering one online. After looking at them, we decided on one and Jerry ordered it from Amazon. (Jerry cashed in some change this weekend, and it turned out that he had $175 in his change jar! Whoa! I guess those poker evenings with the guys really do pay out. Anyway, with his change-jar cha-ching and some giftcards he'd been hoarding, our new camcorder felt like a bargain!)

The funny thing is that after he ordered it, he proudly announced, "Well, our new video camera will be here in 5-9 business days!"

"Well, I hope it gets here before the baby does," I told him.

His face fell with the sudden realization that that may be a possibility. Now is probably the one time he wishes he would have paid the extra $$ for the rush shipping :)

After we shopped for the camcorder, we went to see a matinee of Harry Potter, and I have to say, it was fabulous. In my opinion, probably the best of the Potter adaptations so far. Of course, it was like 2 hours and 40 minutes, so I had to get up and pee twice during that time, but other than the long sit, I really thought it was great. Now, it sucks that we have to wait until Nov of 2010 for the first installment of Deathly Hallows!

Sunday
I ran some errands, and then went and treated myself to a pedicure. Pedicures are one of my few beauty indulgences, but I have really come to appreciate them since I got pregnant, and they are a special treasure to me right now since I can't really paint my own toenails (managing to shave my legs feels like it deserves a gold medal).

So, it's been a nice weekend, but everywhere I go I have been getting the following:

Questions from strangers about when I'm due.
Comments from strangers about how I look like I'm gonna "pop" any day now.
Pats on my belly from strangers.
Question from a stranger if the iced coffee I was drinking is decaf.
Question from a stranger about which prenatal vitamins she should buy.
Pat on my belly from pedicure-girl and comment that I'm lucky not to have swollen ankles.

So, am I ready to have this kid? Hell, yes! If for no other reason than to have an end to the above.

I felt the same way towards the end. I was sick of the questions, glances, and uncalled for touching. I think I have touched your belly 2x and asked both times. It's like a magnet to people (well, all except Ryan. He wouldn't even touch mine.)

Sounds like an action packed weekend. I broke my fever, had some Miller time, went to the park, and Target. Is it wrong that I am craving a nice cold beer or glass of wine after all this sweating?

LOL about the strange questions. geez.

I want to get out and see the Harry Potter Movie, but just can't get myself to spend the money on the evening showings, and don't want to waste a sunny afternoon inside, ha.

Sounds like you guys had a pretty good weekend. I think I need to get to the bookstore and get me those Harry Potter books, I feel so out of the loop having not read them.

Love the comments from strangers...people will say anything won't they? Although I would have to agree that you do look ready to pop :)

oh jeeze, gotta love the strangers. I actually had a man ask me if I was drinking whole milk, because 2% won't help the growing baby. WTF ??

I don't think it'll ever be okay with someone touching my belly. Yeesh! Good luck with the home stretch.

I can't believe the comments people make to you. Plus, why do people feel they can touch someone's stomach?

Hahah, don't you love strangers comments and actions. Love it.

Gahh, I think it would make me crazy having strangers patting my belly!

Gotta love the comments from strangers.

Beer Geek was all about the gadgets as well. A camcorder was his first post Jones purchase (although, now we've discovered the video feature on our digital camera rocks, so we never take the camcorder anywhere anymore.)

BTW, seeing your 37 week pic prompted me to go look at mine from when I had Shoo. Let's just say you look great compared to the beached whale look I was sporting.

Sounds like a great weekend! Hopefully the camcorder arrives with plenty of time for him to play with it & figure it all out.

And you definitely deserve a pedi--- can you even touch your toes right now???

People are rude and it's amazing how few actually think before they speak. lol

Having strangers pat your belly? Umm yeah, that would feel a bit strange..

great weekend! can't believe some people take those kind of liberties.. i'm so glad you made it full term! a friend of mine just had her baby over 3 months early--so far the baby is okay and doing well. but he's only one pound, so there's a lot of praying being done.

It might seem like no big deal to some peeps, but I think touching a preggers lady's belly is an honor and not to be taken lightly (or without permission).

Also glad to get your feedback on Potter. I heard some not so good things about the movie, but your opinion weighs in a bit heavier :-)

Hang in there!!

Okay, the belly pats would have someone draw back a nub. You don't know me. Don't touch me! And the stranger comments would annoy me. Especially the one asking about the decaf iced coffee. There's no polite way to say, "Mind your business." So I'm thinking I'd be extremely rude. But that's just me.

Yeah, that's why I leave pregnant women alone. No idea which ones feel really awkward about the whole extra attention bit.

Haha man strangers are just weird about pregnancy stuff! Hope the camcorder gets there before the baby!

I never got the questions or the random touching ... but I'm not a very approachable person ;) The caffeine thing is funny though! When I was pregnant I had a latte a day and my sister confessed to me that when she was younger and worked at a Caribou coffee, if a pregnant woman came and ordered a latte she secretly GAVE THEM DECAF. I smacked her.

So funny my husband has just had the same realization that the baby really could be here any day. I have had that feeling already and I am past it, I know I will find a way to be ready when it happens, he is just in the freak out mode right now!

Ahhhhhh, people are so freakin' annoying. And the touching would so freak me out. I would maybe get a shirt that says "personal space issue - do not touch." ha ha
