Yesterday, in the weekly email update that I receive from BabyCenter, it described this remaining part of pregnancy as "the waiting game," and I think it's the most accurate description for what both Jerry and I are experiencing right now. BabyCenter's email suggests: "Take naps, catch up on your reading, and spend uninterrupted time with your partner while you can," and really that's what I've basically been doing this weekend.
But, enjoying this down time is easier said than done, and like most things in life, I'm sure I won't appreciate all this extra time, sleep, and relaxation until later when I don't have it anymore. So, while it has been a nice, quiet, slow-paced weekend, I also find myself a little bored and sick of the anticipation.
However, they say that good things come to those who wait...

I never appreciated the sleep when I was able to get it....but I do now. ha!
My kids are at the Grandparents this weekend and now I am soaking up every minute of doing NOTHING.
Hang in there, you are so close!
Hope you can enjoy some of your free time while you have it, but I know what you mean about being boored with the waiting game.
When I first read the beginning sentence I thought you wrote "reaming" and thought this might not be something I would be comfortable with. Then I figured it out. Doh!
Sleep sleep sleep!
It's extra long for you because you are not working right now. If you need something to do...I have books that need to be read, household chores, outdoor chores, shopping, etc. ;) Just kidding.
Just like waiting for Christmas morning when you know you're getting an amazing present - if only babies were that easy to "open". :)
Let me say Jess... it is the most worthwhile waiting you will ever do. :) I am in love with both baby and mommyhood!(BTW - I pointedly logged online just now to see how you are doing! Otherwise... not much time to "play" online!)
Make sure to take the time to pamper yourself. A mani/pedi, facial & massage are in order!
Have you started eating the crazy foods "guaranteed" to put you into labor?
BTW...a pedicure is an excellent idea!
put the baby on the phone so I can tell her, "Get with the damn program!!" :-) You are welcome.
tick tock tick tock tick tock.
Enjoy the rest time! It is definitely getting very excited.
Definitely take some time to be pampered! I imagine being off work is part of why time is dragging. With both my boys, I was racing around trying to get things done and was not at all ready for them to arrive.
Enjoy the quiet, she'll be here soon.
hope you are finding fun, relaxing things to occupy your time. i like the pampering mani/pedi/spa idea ;)
The old "tick, tock, tick, tock" feeling. Well, let me say this - be prepared early. Both of my daughters arrived about 18 days early, when we least expected it.
I can't imagine how you guys must be feeling right now. Exciting!
yep, you are exactly right. the anticipation will kill you, but this time next week it might be "remember when we could just go to sleep when we were tired?"
O the waiting game! What a tiresome thing to do, WAIT! I pray your wait is a short wait.
Forget waiting. Turn the spit on that pig. Grab a jump rope and bounce that baby out!
everyone tells you to go out to dinner, enjoy the time. I was taken by surprise when Nick was 2 weeks early so never was :waiting: but I went through how that feels with alot of my friends!
Don't tempt me on Nov & Dec budgets! :)
I can only imagine how difficult this "waiting" period can be... I'm sure you just want to meet her already! I think you're handling it quite well though!!
I laughed when I read that today on the Baby Center's email I got. It SO is the waiting game! Although I just need 1 more weekend to do things we need to get done prior to the baby arriving, after that he can come anytime!
There's also the frustrating fact that everyone you know is now monitoring you and thinking, "Huh, she's still pregnant" every time they see you. When I was at your point in my pregnancy, I got a bad case of Crazy and started to believe that I was never, ever going to have the baby, would be pregnant forever, and everyone would just have to get used to the idea. I hope that does not happen to you!
