After my epic car cleaning last Monday, I vounteered to clean out his truck, and he readily agreed. So, he took the Escape today, and I cleaned out his Ranger, aka "Bold Gold" as we call it.
This is a much bigger task than cleaning out my Escape. I keep my car relatively clean, but when I opened the passenger door to Bold Gold, this is the mess that greeted me:
I cleaned out two bags of recyclable stuff (empty water bottles and soda cans) and one bag that was just trash. I also made about $5 in change that was floating around in there. Next, I gave it the same treatment I gave the Escape last week: Windexed the windows, wiped down all non-cloth surfaces, and finally, vacuumed.
It's not sparkling clean, and there's still a strange smell that I just can't identify (I might just label it "man smell"), but it's as clean as two hours worth of cleaning can get it. Plus, I gassed it up and washed the outside at the car wash, so the truck is probably cleaner now than it has been in a loooooooong time.
Now, I think I have earned an afternoon of laying on the couch with a book. Toodles!

Holy cr*p - some driver of a truck, who shall remain nameless, is a dirt bucket!
What a loving wife you are. I shall send a copy of this post to my wife post haste!
I shall hide this post from my Hubs... but then again, his van, the "green monster" is much worse than "bold gold".
That looks like the inside of Dee Dee's SUV. I hate it when she borrows my car...
I'd say you DEFINITELY earned a relaxing afternoon!
Another job well done! You are on a roll with the cleaning of the cars. Happy reading.
Rich and i are currently sharing a car, and unfortunately it looks like that more often than not! He loves his beverages, LOL
I have a few vehicles that could use detailing - again. :)
Sorry to interrupt your afternoon of book lounging with babysitting, but Rylee is super excited to be getting away from me.
Aw man - that mocha thing sounds fantastic. I should hit that up... and good for you with your nesting car cleaning urges! :) BTW - when I said I tried ALL the old wives remedies, that included your suggestion! ;)
ununfortunately I have found that that "man smell" is generally gas. Thats why it lingers and just doesnt seem to go away.
Strange smell... man smell.. LOL.
Enjoy the rest of your afternoon!
Dang girl, wife of the year! I wouldn't do that now much less super pregnant.
Looking good. Bold Gold should be happy to have you around. I know everyone has offered their cars for you to service and I don't want to feel like a slacker. The Mitsu also could use a cleaning :)
I like the Caramel Iced Coffee from McD's. It's my treat once and a while and isn't quite as bad for you as the Mocha but they are close.
WoW! What a mess and you tackled it!
Nice!
You know, you could totally start your own car-cleaning business...if you weren't ready to burst, that is.
I keep a Rubbermaid trashcan in my SUV, it goes a long way towards keeping it "less dirty". Jerry may want to consider a trashcan!!!
you are doing an awesome job w/ the cleaning! wow! enjoy some rest time now.
Free is always good but cold coffee is just wrong!
Jerr-bear needs to keep his cave a bit cleaner!
Wow, and I thought mine was messy.
Men's cars do have a distinct smell. My new guys car (new nickname just posted) smells like crayons. I wonder what that's about.
Sooo if I drop by car off will you clean it that well too haha
Man, I wish some nesting preggo would come clean out my car LOL.
Nice job on the car cleaning. I finally cleaned out my escape this weekend and can't get rid of the rotten whole milk smell. Note to self: avoid half full sippy cups under seats on hot days. Yuck.
Bold Gold? I love it! What's your car's name? (or did I miss that?)
