Remember about a month ago when I posted that I had a short story accepted for publication?
Well, it's in the current issue of the magazine, so if you're interested in taking a gander, you can go here and click on "current stories"; there's only two there right now, and mine is titled "The Infirmary."
After you read it, I expect a 500 word essay that discusses its symbolism on my desk by next week.
Kidding. I don't want to read an essay for the next 4 months! But you can leave questions, commentary, praise, and agent offers in the comments section here. If you have criticism, you can keep that to yourself ;)

Congrats!! That has to be an awesome feeling!
Many congrats.
That was a fantastic read too. I love the slow reveal and...well, I guess I can't discuss too much without spoiling it for others. Excellent work--even though my opinion carries no professional or critical weight.
That's an excellent story. I really enjoyed it, Congrats!
[SPOILER-READ THE STORY FIRST]
Wow, that brings me right back to my hospital stay a few weeks ago. The gentleman in the next bed was severely demented. He didn't even know he was in a hospital. He thought I was some kind of staff person and he yelled at me to help him. I closed the curtain and in minutes he forgot I was even there. Fortunately they had an extra room for me, because I would have turned the narcotic drip up to max if I had to sleep in that room with him.
As to the story, I thought it was well crafted with an excellent POV. I did start figuring it out pretty quickly because it reminded me of my own experience. It's damn sad to see something like that. Congrats on the publication!
All I can say is wow, that certainly had me in tears.
Congrat's Jess, well written.
Congrats. It was an excellent piece, you had me right there in the moment.
Wow, powerful story, thanks.
great story, very well written...it reminded me of my grandmother who passed away last year, who had dementia...
Excellent story! Congrats on the publication.
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing - I realy enjoyed it!

Congrats on the publication! It was a great read.
Congrats. I remember when my grandmother would get many of her writings published. That's great.
I finally got a chance to go and read this. It was really well written and I very much enjoyed reading it. I can't wait to see more Jessica HIggins publications!
Good stuff. Several assumptions ran through my head, but I settled on a single question: based on experience with a loved one?
