Thank Goodness for the Blog

As part of the grand photo album project this week, I am putting together two baby books for Norah (one is a "memory book" -- so lots of space to write and record stuff, and one is just photos), so I had printed all the preggo pics I have of me. Problem is, I couldn't recall how far along I was in each pic.

Problem solver? The blog! I have posted most pics here, so all I had to do was search through my archive to find my discussion about the timeframe (I know what you're thinking: why not use the folders from your hard drive? well, since I switched to a laptop in April, not all the printed pics came from this hard drive, and Snapfish just organizes pics by month, not exact dates or weeks).

Anyway, the short trip down memory lane prompted me to think that you may enjoy a brief trip down this lane as well.

To begin with, here I am at 12 weeks. I can't believe I thought I looked "pudgy" here! I don't look pregnant at all! And again, at 18 weeks, I still don't look preggo, but at the time, I recall believing that I was really starting to show. How silly.
21 weeks. Okay, now I look preggo. At the time of this post, I said that I felt like the belly had started to fill in nearly overnight, and with the short 3 week gap between pics, I think that was pretty much true.
29 weeks. And, clearly, I have learned to master only one preggo pose.
And lastly, the most current pic of me, which was at around 33-34 weeks. Seriously, can I not figure out something else to do with my arms? I guess I will have to experiment and come up with a more unique pose for my next pic.
Goodness, I have grown, huh?

This week's photo album project has been fun, but it's been weird looking at pictures of myself before I was pregnant and in the early stages of pregnancy when I didn't yet look like I was pregnant because right now, it feels weird to think of myself as not being pregnant. And, I have to say, that I don't think I fully appreciated what I looked and felt like before pregnancy. Sorry, body.

Anyhoo...all done with the photo album project. Now, after Norah is born, I doubt I will ever get around to this much picture organizing again. Well, that may not be true. She's the first born, so her pics will probably still get organized, and I'll still take the time to record everything. It's that poor second kid that will probably not have a single printed pic. I know that in my family, I'm the eldest, so I have a cute baby book with all my milestones pictured and commented on, but my youngest brother, the 3rd kid, just has a bunch of pictures in a box!

What about you guys? Do you have a baby book of yourself? Did you keep up baby books for your own kids?

You are so right about the baby book thing. I am a first born and have a beautiful book and lots of pictures. My 1st sister has a little bit less but still a book, just less of it. My poor 2nd sister has a handfull of pics and a pretty empty book. I started a book with my son and it has a ton of pictures. I am hoping since there is a gap before I have another that I will have as much for the 2nd when the time comes. I love all of your belly bump pics. Now I wish I had taken more pics of me, but at the time I didn't want to see a camera.

I have a baby book from when I was little that was documented pretty well through my first 24 months. Then my brother was born. My book pretty much stopped getting updated and I don't even know if he has one haha

Love the trip down memory lane.

I always seem to do that in pics, too. I feel so awkward with my arms just hanging there.

I'm the eldest so I do have baby books (plural) but my 3 younger siblings don't have much. It's just the way it goes!

I love the pics! My hub and I were just going through the series of preggo pics the other day and I was saying the exact same thing... I could not believe that I thought I was pudgy between 14-20 weeks. However, now... I am quite certain I won't look back and think "DAMN, I was thin!". HAHA! But- for the record, you're wearing pregnancy beautifully. :)

Ha! Nice progression series. Hope the kid appreciates what you've done.

You just look so adorable prego.

My mom kept a pretty good baby book of me. But when she got older and wacky she started taking the pics out and doing other things with them. So lame. I finally went to her house and stole the book and took him so she couldn't ruin it anymore.

One cool thing my mom started doing about 10 years ago is to include a couple of pictures of me as a kid in each year's birthday card. (She's 80 something, and I'm 50, its kind of fun to see those pics again.)

You just inspired me to get all my pics together to see the progression of my preggo belly! I didn't start taking pics until I started to show a little bit @ the start of April but it still would be cool to see...

Wow, has it been that long? Well, at least your smile is the same.

I got hosed. I was the first born and my baby book is barren. My sisters on the hand - well, we know whom was loved.

Hopefully you will fill Norah's to the brim.

My older sister has a baby book, multiple pictures albums dedicated to her, everything!! My pictures aren't in a box - but there's only one album dedicated to me... ah well!

Love the baby book idea!

Wow, huge difference between weeks 18 and 21!

And I say if the pose works, why change it? =)

I don't have a baby book. My mom is extremely disorganized. LOL. My husband has the coolest baby book ever- his parents wrote letters to him two days before he was born. Reading them brings tears to my eyes. They documented EVERYTHING! It's very cool!

ha! did I keep a book for J? you're joking right? :) I even have her hair clippings in the page where she got her first cut (with photos of her bawling) and my hair clippings to compare hair, etc.

This is a wonderful idea. I am going to do the same when that time comes!

You are such a beautiful mom-to-be!

I love to scrapbook. I even bought that crazy Cricut machine that cuts out shapes and letters. I have the first few pages done in both boys books....and a ROOM full of photos, papers, stickers, and every intention of doing them. When I find the time (in 18 years???)

Great idea, we did the prego pics too.

Great pictures! My brother is still bitter that his baby book didn't make it past footprints but mine had all kinds of stuff in it - perks of being first.

i have one photo album each (serves purpose of scrapbook, but not as fancy as today's scrapbooking) for my kids. there's probably more extra stuff in Son's , but I was careful to keep them similar in size pagewise. It's definately a lot harder to find time to do that after baby!!

Oh man, I know exactly what you mean. I did NOT appreciate the way I looked before I was pregnant! The day I found out I was pregnant, I went to my 10-year high school reunion, so there are tons of recent pictures of me out there looking skinny and fit. I wonder if I'll ever look that way again?!

I have a baby book for Brooke that I have barely filled in, but am pretty good at keeping up with "her" blog. The few times I have scribbled something into her book, I had to go to her blog to find the date/reference ... so I know what you mean!

As for myself, I refused to get a photo taken of me while pregnant. I let my husband take one a day or two before Brooke was born, just because I felt guilty for not having any evidence. What if she thinks she was adopted or something because I have no "proof" of pregnancy? :)

I have 4 kids and all thier baby books are kept up to date. I did not want the last ones not to have one.... so, I leave them in the kitchen pantry...to keep them handy.

hahaha! I saw that first pic and I was like, what happened to the baby???? :-)

What a fun post, to look at the pics in progression like that.

it's so fun to see the progression. I did the same thing on my baby blog when I needed to go back and check when things were!

You look awesome....as for the baby books? I don't have one. I'm old enough that photos were more of a novelty than anything else. For my kids? DramaGirl has an several photo albums...filled. Turbo...quite a bit less...then I discovered digital photography about 8 years ago, and everything is documented since...but organized? That's a whole different story.

My Mom filled out the first few pages of my baby book and that's it - pathetic. There also are no photos of me from about 1 year old to 10 years old - and I'm an only child!
