Hair Dilemma

I have a haircut scheduled for tomorrow, but I am completely undecided as to what I want to do. I have been growing my hair out (which is really just lazy-speak for the fact that I haven't had it cut since February), and part of me would like to continue to allow it to grow because I haven't had long hair in years; plus, long hair is easy to maintain because I can just pull it back in a pony tail. And easy maintenance might be handy for being a Baby Mama.

So, this is what it currently looks like:
So, if I let it grow, I'd just get it trimmed tomorrow (which, if nothing else, it desperately needs that). However, part of me really wants to CUT it. So, I'm pondering going back to a style that's like this: Because I'm not the most rational person right now (I think that being 9 months pregnant makes me slightly OCD and even though I know cutting 5 inches off my hair won't erase the 20 lbs sticking out in front of me, somehow, they do seem related), I am turning to you, dear readers, for your opinions.

Do I: CUT IT! or Trim it. ???

I have been reading your blog for a while and finally decided to get into the action!
Hmmm...not a pregnant woman and I don't have kids, but with that being said, I have seen that most women with babes have short hair and if they don't when the babe is born, they do shortly after! :)
But I am of the thinking that being able to pull it back is always a nice convience.
After all of that, I say just go for a trim for now. Wait to see how you can manage after the babe is born. Either way though, you look stunning! :)

I'm a long hair-ponytail girl, so I'd probably go with long and a trim. It sorta depends on how much time you spent with the short hair. On me, it seems like I spend more time styling my hair when it's shorter. With long hair, in a pinch, ponytail or headband. (yeah, I'm THAT mom).

It needs to be long enough to pull back or short enough to look cute when you don't have time to wash/style it. If you don't have to do much to have yours look like it did in the second picture, than go for it. When I have mine that length, it totally requires regular washing and blowdrying.

Not sure that helps LOL.

Hmm.. I like the long hair!! I didn't start doing my hair (blow dry/straighten) until Nick was like 2 months old!

Cut it. It still can be pulled back and looks adorable shorter. Plus when it starts falling out and you get those baby hairs the longer bangs will look good :)

I'd trim it, but I love having the option of yanking it into a ponytail. Maybe go for the shorter cut again in a few months?

Trim. Good luck.

I am a ponytail girl...but I love your bangs in the shorter hairstyle, and you can always pin them back if necessary! I say trim with the side bang. Love love love!

Every one else is saying trim, but I'm a proponent of the "if you feel like you need a change, then do it."

I cut off about 6 inches last week, and it was pretty therapeutic in going about the whole life change of searching for new jobs, It was just the fresh kick I needed to go forward with a great positive attitude.

Also, can I say how much I adore your bookshelves. Shelves like that are a dream of mine.

No opinion! Me like'em both!!

If you do the shorter look your going to get the whole "you got the Mom haircut" thing...but I really like it both ways, I too am in the same boat, keep my hair long enough to tie back or cut it...I am torn!

You're cute either way. I say go for whatever is easier for you to maintain.

I'd say trim it since you're undecided. After the baby is born, if you decide you want it short, you can always cut it then. But once you chop it, you're committed.

But, you look damn sexy either way!!!

I have a 3yr old and one the way. I ALWAYS try to grow mine out, but it never happens- I have fine thin hair… and I so badly want to have ponytail days...I can only dream. My suggestion...If you're wanting a "new" look why don’t' you go for an in between cut. That way you could still put it up if you wanted, but yet it would be different! You look wonderful by the way!!

I love the long hair...I say leave it!

When J was born I cut it all off and regretted it.

I'm a big long hair girl, but you look adorable either way. I like the bangs of the short hair though. They'd probably be a pain to upkeep with a new baby, but they sure are cute!

Two cents: I think long hair makes for better mommy and me pictures.

I think you should trim it... that way it can be pulled back quite easily which will most definitely be nice when the baby's here!... then, after Norah comes, if you want it shorter, cut it!

You look great in both, but I'm leaning towards the slightly shorter version.

I like both cuts. But my vote goes for trim it now. Once Norah's here, if you decide you want it shorter, you can always get it chopped.

You are fortunate because both look good on you, so it's mostly a matter of which you prefer. If you are undecided, I'd suggest a trim. You can always go back and have a bunch cut off later.

Tough one since you look good in both! In the second picture it still look long enough that you could throw it up if you wanted. I say cut it. But, that may be because I too am in need of a nice chop!

I am 33 weeks pregnant with number four and found your blog while searching for info on running while pregnant (I enjoy reading you blog by the way). I usually have longer hair but with the previous pregnancies I have cut my hair off and always regretted it later. So this final time around I have tried to resist that urge. I am a very busy mom and having longer hair is just easier for me to take care of....but your hair looks really cute with a bob! Just thought I would share what works best for me! Good luck!

You will look beautiful either way, but I love that shorter trendy cut (I may be bias, I have a similar cut!)

TRIM!!!!
TRIM!!!!

It seems all women's hair gets shorter over time...keep it long!!!

lifestudent said...

I have a two part answer for you:
1) There are times when Brooke was first born that I went a couple of DAYS without showering (its tough showering with a newborn). If you need to wash your hair to make it look acceptable when its shorter ... keep it long!
2) I think after a few weeks/months with Norah you will be dying for a change. You'll feel frumpy and lumpy and tired. It might be a good time to do something different with your hair ... and different often = shorter.

Basically, I guess I'm saying to leave it alone for now!

JojaJogger said...

I vote for whichever one will be easiest for you. So probably a trim for now, then if you want the short hair look again in a few months, get it cut then.

Unknown said...

You look great with either style. I am a ponytail gal so if it were me I would trim and wear it up. Either way I think you will be golden. Can't wait to see what you pick.

I say go with whichever hairdo requires less maintenance. You'll have your hands full with Norah soon, so you won't be able to be arsed with your hair most days. At least this is what I assume.

Carly said...

I vote for a just a trim. You look great in long hair.

runner26 said...

i think it looks cute either way so i'd go with whatever's easiest!! you are not going to want to deal w/ your hair once the baby gets here.

Midwest said...

The other mommies are right that you may not be able to shower every day, at least for the first couple of months. Cut accordingly!

Now that's a high class problem!

FWIW my wife went with 'easy to keep" so whatever works best for you!
