A Warm One

Last night I got my first run in after a week's hiatus, and it felt good.

However, it was a hot one!

See, the blessedly cooler months of November-March abruptly come to a hault in April, and while I'm sure the reality is that the weather gradually warms up in the course of March, it always seems like one day, over night in April, it goes from cooler, drier weather to hot, humid weather. And suddenly, it's summer.

Granted, it's not August out there yet, so it's not that kind of heat, but it is distinctly different from the pleasant weather we've enjoyed since Christmas; add to that the factor that I'm running in a shirt now (I just don't feel comfortable having the belly out there in the open), and I was a sweaty monkey when I returned home last night from my 3 miler.

So this is going to shift running in two ways: One, it's gonna have to happen in the late evening or early morning (ha!) now; and two, I need to find some better kind of tops to run in. Cotton t-shirts will no longer suffice.

I don't know how you manage to run in the heat / humidity combination. Good job.

Run with your belly out and a belly band for support. That will get some honks!

Weather wise, I went for a walk Monday night and it was beautiful. I actually thought to myself what a great dry night it was. By Wednesday, it was hot and humid. Does mother nature really watch the calendar?

Running in cotton tee shirts is terrible when it's warm out. Have fun picking out some new tops!

Just catching up...look at YOU!! You're gorgeous...good luck finding tops that will wick away the heat for you...do you need to support your tummy now?

Good luck finding the perfect top. Pregnancy clothes are tough enough without adding in the challenge of running in humidity.

We will be sending one more cold front your way. No need to thank me :-)

Have fun picking out new tops...I can't imagine running in that heat!

Be careful, the heat gets the heart-rate up also! You could run here in freezing temps and wind gust and not worry about the heat!

You know, maternity running gears would be really cool. I wonder if they have those out there somewhere...

You can always dip in the pool after your hot run. I have always like doing the Nestea Tea plunge after my run.

I don't know how you've gone this long running in cotton t's. I can't do it. Wicking wear is the way to go.

Enjoy the weather!

As it starts to warm up we have to acclimate ourselves again. Good luck finding some tops to run in.

I just broke down and got a new "tech" shirt for my race tomorrow...I don't know how you have been running in t-shirts in ANY heat. I guess I'm a wuss!

Nice job getting the run in. Hope the shift in schedule helps with the heat.

Good job running in the heat. I ran indoors today and I had trouble with the heat, I don't know how you do it!

Great blog, just found it!!

I always start so early during the summer to get the runs in before it gets really hot and humid. Humidity kills me.

OHH!! I am jealous of the heat. Its a much more gradual process getting from winter to spring to summer in New England.

I'm so jealous of your heat! Anyhow, I don't know if you have a Lululemon near you, but they make a GREAT long tank top that is perfect for a pregnant belly, add an extra sports bra for some support and you're set! I mentioned it on my blog post the other day if you want to check it out...http://slowisthenewfast.blogspot.com/2009/04/friday-night-run.html

Target has a great long top sweat wicking top too. You're so tiny that I'll bet a medium or even a large would work for you. (and it's pretty inexpensive...about $20.00).

Thanks for the advice on my blog. You're right. I need to take some time off.

I know chicks that buy bulk tech tanks on ebay in wholesale lots, might be the way to go :-).

You're the coolest mommy ever btw :-)
