Frozen Four

Tonight, we went to a sports bar with our friends so we could all watch our alumnus, Bemidji State University, in the Div I hockey final four. BSU is a small state school in Minnesota, so to have them go all the way to the semifinals in Washington, DC was pretty exciting. There were about 10 of us at the bar, and we were the only ones who not only went to BSU, but we were also the only ones who could tell others where Bemidji is (although, ESPN helped us out by running a short segment on the university and featured a map of MN to show viewers where the small city is). Being the Beavers only fans at the bar, we all broke out the Beaver gear and adopted the appropriate level of Beaver Fever, and we had fun watching the game, but unfortunately, BSU didn't win.

Oh well. Hopefully it's the beginning for them, and in the years to come, maybe Beaver hockey will get bigger, and then we won't have to coach fellow bar patrons on how to pronounce "Bemidji."

It is quite funny to hear how people try to pronounce Bemidji. It's like a little kid learning a new word.

Random... my Dad is really into college hockey and was just telling me about this BSU team. Hope you guys make it past Miami of OH... a tough New England team awaits the winner!

I'm convinced y'all made that school name up. How do you even say it?

Let me guess...Bem-id-gee?

Did I say it right?

Wow a fellow former Minnesotan! Yes, I know where Bemidji is and how to pronounce it. I've even visited Paul and Babe (that's a reference only someone who's been to Bemidji will get). Congrats to the team!

A first look at the photo I was thinking, "What the heck is on her head?" It looks like you had a fun night! I was going to say something inappropriate about your beaver pride but I'll hold off.

Very cool. That is amazing that they made it to the frozen four. That is not something easy to do.

Although I am so sad that my Gophers or Bulldogs didn't make it this year, I am WAY excited for Bemidji to make it to the Frozen 4!

What is a worse mascot, a beaver or a gopher?

LMAO about schooling peeps on how to say Bemidji.

Go BEAVERS! Sorry, Bemidji? I like Beavers better.

I used to go on a 2 week vacation every summer on Leech Lake by Walker, MN. Crazy small world. Doesn't Bemidji have a big flea market like every weekend in the summer? I know we drove there for something. Too funny.

Those dang Redhawks had to have cheated. I am putting money on steroids. Go Beavers!

Hi there,

I came across your blog and saw that you’re passionate about running and staying fit. I’m not sure if you’ve ever tried Greek yogurt, but it's strained which leaves it with twice the protein and half the sugar of regular yogurt. Stonyfield Farm makes Oikos Organic Greek yogurt which has a whopping 15 grams of protein per 5.3 oz. serving, which is a great snack to fuel your training schedule. Our Oikos Greek yogurt is also unique because it’s the only organic Greek yogurt on the market today. We feel that organic is not only better for you, but better for the planet as well.

I’d love to send you some free coupons to give Oikos a try. If you're interested, just shoot me an email at Kdrociak@stonyfield.com and let me know where to send them.

Take care,

Kristina

When I heard the story on NPR about Bemidji making it to the Frozen Four I immediately recognized the name AND knew approximately where it was. My husband and I knew a guy who grew up there. For reference, at the time we all lived in central Illinois.

Um, wow. I've never been in this position before. You see, I went to Boston University. Do I insult you now? Do I perform a victory dance? BU has so few sports victory I really have no idea what to do.
