Passengers

Yesterday, we continued to enjoy the cooler Florida temps, and I went out for a 3 miler in the morning.  It was cool enough that I ran at 9:30 am, and I was comfortable!  Typically, by 9:30 am, it's about a bazillion degrees outside, and I wouldn't run at that time if you paid me.  (No wait, that's not true, I'd definitely run then if I were being paid, but I'd be demanding a hefty salary to run at that time of day.)

Caleb joined me, and at one point, it rained on us a bit.  It wasn't too much -- a steady drizzle at best -- but I still stopped and covered the stroller with the weathershield.  Classic South Florida, the rain only lasted about 5 minutes, so half a mile after stopping to put the weathershield on, I stopped again to remove it.  He didn't mind the brief stops; Caleb is a good passenger.  Even if he doesn't fall asleep, he just sits quietly in there and gnaws on his fist.

If only Norah were also a good passenger.  At this age, she hates being in a stroller -- any stroller.  At the zoo on Saturday, we brought our regular double stroller thinking she'd get tired of walking and want to ride, but her tiny tush never so much as grazed the seat of that stroller.  Instead, she was entirely happy to walk for 3 hours.  If she still tolerated a stroller, I'd bite the bullet and buy the BOB Dualie, but as it is, I think it'd just be a $600 waste.

Yep, sadly my formerly good passenger is turning into a pretty bad one, now that she's walking. For now I can usually keep her happy my giving her my sunglasses to play with, but even that only lasts a few minutes before she's fussy and trying to squirm her way out again. Fun times!

Oh well, I prefer running without the stroller anyway, but it sure does make it easier to get out for a run.

My children are the same age as yours. I've the opposite problem though. My 4 month old won't tolerate the stroller/carseat/anything that doesn't invove being held!

I really need to get back running. Right now I'm struggling with one mile! I need to use you as inspiration ;)

Norah will probably go back to being a good passenger at some point - Sophie went through the phase of not wanting to be in the stroller at all, and then after she turned 3, she wanted to be back in it.

Any day where you can run comfortably at 9:30 am is a good day! Here's hoping Caleb remains a happy passenger for a long while yet.

Three hours Time On Feet. Sounds like a future ultra runner to me ;)

I hope my kid doesn't hate the stroller. I love my stroller so she better too!

DramaGirl was like Norah...as soon as she started walkin' there was no ridin' (both a blessing and a curse).

Turbo? Same as Caleb...he'd let me push him around all day. He's almost 14 now and I swear, if they made a stroller big enough for a 14 year, he'd be all over it!

I've said it before ... I have NO idea how you folks push another human while running ... my hat's off to you! Have a great day!

The cooler FL temperatures are sooooo wonderful after months of heat and humidity! I find myself itching to get out the door just because the weather is so nice! :)

Neither of mine ever liked the stroller. I ended up using it to carry things while chasing little ones around.

yea our kids grew out of the strollers pretty fast. They never did want to run in them, and I never really wanted to push them so it all worked out in the end.
