Spring Cleaning

It must be a fever that is catching because everyone seems to be talking about cleaning out closets and re-organizing around the house. Well, same was true for me yesterday. I tackled my closet in the bedroom, and got rid of 4 huge bags of clothes and 2 bags of shoes, including one bag that was all running shoes (7 pairs, to be exact). Why was I keeping 2 years worth of old running shoes? Hard to say exactly, except that I'm kinda attached to those old pairs; still, holding onto them is silly, especially when they're taking up so much room.

So, I loaded up all that stuff and made a run to Salvation Army to drop off the clothes and regular shoes and this afternoon, I'm gonna drop the running shoes off at my local running store (they donate them to a running charity). Feels good to clean out that kind of stuff -- plus, my closet feels so much bigger now and I have room for a brand new wardrobe! :)

After the closet cleaning frenzy, I spent the afternoon relaxing with a book, and in the evening, I made dinner, and Jerry and I watched "Caddyshack" and played Risk. After 2 and 1/2 hours of that game, I forfeited. Not necessarily because I was losing, but because I was tired of the game. I like Risk; I just wish it could take about half the time to play; oh, and I wish Jerry wouldn't delight so much in annihilating my armies. He's quite vicious when it comes to world domination.

Next thing you'll know you'll need to get Jerry a mini-me and some sharks with "lasers."

Oh you guys are getting me all gung ho to keep up the cleaning efforts. Nice work! Just doing it is so much faster than procrastinating for days, then doing it. :D hee hee.

That yoga is cracking me up. I guess that's 4 bucks and an hour of your life you'll never get back, but at least you got some stretches!

I have never played Risk and with Jerry's evil ways...I think I will hold off from learning with him.

I still have that one unpacked box - but the only other donatable stuff would be my sneakers.

Your Risk playing analysis reminds me of college...for some reason that was frequently a game of choice.

Caddyshack is such a great movie!

I have all my old running shoes too...I keep making up silly reasons I can't part with them...this is the pair I trained for my first marathon in...this is the pair I ran my first marathon in...etc. etc.

I guess I better start cleaning too.

Cool on donating the running shoes to people who will use them for their intended purpose.

I need to clean so bad, but I think I might get a maid. So pathetic with the small apartment I have, but I just can't bare to think about actually cleaning.

I've been meaning to clean out my closets for the last year but keep finding reasons not to. Guess I don't have the spring cleaning bug yet.

Busy day. That is pretty cool that you can drop your old sneakers off for charity. I have tons of sneakers that I don't wear anymore but can throw out.

I've never played Risk in my life - but it always reminded me of Monopoly in the too-long respect!

Also, from your other post, yoga sounds a lot like the community ed water aerobics I took for a while!

We've been spring cleaning closets and the garage. I am soooo happy with the garage, it seems huge now! Amazing how much room all our old unused stuff was taking up!!

Glad your cleaning was so productive! I have a trunk full of stuff to drop off at the Goodwill - but didn't feel like doing it today in the pouring rain. Maybe tomorrow's weather will be cooperative. :)
