Ring Issues

Last night, I was brushing crumbs off the bed (Scooter and his messy bones -- sheesh!) and my wedding band flew across the room! Granted, I had been thinking for a few weeks that it felt extra loose, and yes, lately I had noted that it seemed to slide around a little too freely on my finger, but flying off? Goodness. I think it needs to be re-sized.

However...

When I run, my fingers swell and it always feels tighter then. So, I just know that if I get it re-sized, it'll be tight when I run and what if my finger falls off from poor blood circulation? I suppose I could leave it off when I run, but I have experimented with that in the past (for example -- marathon training in the summer: heat+humidity+high mileage=chub fingers) but it felt too weird.

Such a conundrum. What do you guys do? Do your fingers swell when you run in the heat? Do you shed the rings? Or do you wear them no matter what? Should I get it re-sized or just be prepared for it to fling off when I gesture?

I think this justifies needing another ring. One blingy one for times you're not swollen... and keep this one for when you're running.

And this, my friends, is the materialistic behavoir that has kept me unmarried for 27 years :-).

I don't wear my rings when exercising but, then again, I'm not married so not sure if it feels weird not to wear the sacred jewelry. I know I have no problem going without my bling.

Get a ring tatoo like Pamela Anderson. Classy, with just a touch of skank. You may lose your dignity, but you will never lose that ring.

No rings for me when I run. :)

Mine were loose for about a year. I finally got them resized about a month ago and it turned out my finger had shrunk from a 6 to a 4.5! No idea why. I don't wear my rings when I work out, though.

I am with Chia. Keep the current one for running and get yourself some new bling!

Or, get pregnant cause those fingers will swell up and keep it tight just like when you run.

My fingers swell in the heat too. I usually do not wear rings or necklaces while exercising. Now my rings are too loose for regular wear may have to get them resized too.

See, I'm having this prob in reverse. I got my bands resized in the winter (dumb idea) when my fingers are frozen and small. Now that it's summer? They're all plumpy and hard as hell to get off. I think you can get one of those plastic tightener thingys or ring guards I think they're called at one of those cheesy mall booths. I don't know how well they work (and if they look tacky) but what? They're maybe $10 at the most? It will cost you maybe $50 to get it resized and then if you hate it? You'll have to go back and plop down another $50 to get it switched back again.

I swell bad when I run so I just leave my ring at home!

I never wear them with any exercise.

I'm all for another bauble. Can a girl really have too many?

I just don't get married.

Problem solved.

JK. I don't know what to tell ya.

Years of cracking my knuckles have left them a little larger than my finger per se, so even with running swelling I'm good, not that I am recommending that as a course of action!

My hands swell a lot whenever I walk or run for a period of time, so I don't wear any while exercising. Like Crystal, I'm not married, so I don't know if the wedding band is odd to take off!

My wedding ring hangs permanently around my neck for various reasons. One reason is that I had the opposite problem when running, my ring would randomly fly off - after it happend twice and I luckily found it, I decided enough was enough. Theoretically I could just take it off when running, but I am such a dork I would likey misplace it.

Being pathetically single, I have nothing to offer here.

I run without the ring--on wifey's orders no less. Her worry is that 1. it will fall off or 2. some crazy homeless man will see my ring charge at me in a drunken stuper and kill me for my ring.

I'd say resize & leave it home when you run.

you don't wanna lose it; or have it stuck on your hand. . . . .

A new one sounds fun; maybe a new RUNNIGN ring. . . . . . Is JErry that good to you??/ :o)

You're a pretty big "gesturer" so I think getting it resized is a must. I wouldn't wear it when I was running if I were you, but then you know that I shed my rings immediately when I get home so I'm not the norm by any means!

I don't think flinging is acceptable. I swell too, but don't have it tight enough that it is a problem. I hope you find a happy medium. There's certainly no lack of opinions. :D

i never take mine off... but the fingers dont swell to the point that it hurts. my hub's ring kept flying off so now its in the jewelry box - i need to get that thing sized so he is wearing it again!

I had strange problems when I ran as my fingers seemed to both grow and contract during a long run. I always take mine off...they are bothersome and I dont like to worry about them when I have enough other stuff on my mind :)

I never wear my band when I do anything physical. I have a good reason to fear doing so: I found an article detailing one man's accident. Warning though, the following Google search will lead to a rather graphic / bloody / disturbing image of what happened when one man made this mistake (pick any link, they all have it):

Clicky Clicky

I warned you, it was gross; nonetheless it was what convinced me to only wear my ring when safe.

I know i'm really late responding to this. but when has that stopped me before?

I would get it resized so it doesn't fall off during normal activity

I go ringless and/or i have a cheap silver band that I wear when ringless seems too weird. i don't worry about losing that one.

hope that helps. :)
