Well, March is nearly over, and in terms of running, it has been a big, fat failure. I haven't totalled the mileage yet (still technically have today and tomorrow to sneak in a few more miles), but I know it's low. Like, probably somewhere between 30-40 miles low. Yeah.
So what's my excuse for such dismal mileage this month? Life, I guess.
This month, and actually the two preceding it as well, has just felt so busy, and I'm actually a little shocked to look at the calendar and discover it is nearly over.
Hopefully, April will calm down a little. As of now, we don't have anything big planned, except of course, both Jerry's and I's b-days (mine is the 22nd -- go ahead, mark your calendars and begin the gift buying -- and Jerry's is the 29th), but we don't have major plans for either (yet).
As far as racing in April, I'm a bit conflicted. On the 3rd, there's the corporate run, which some friends will be running, but I'm not sure if I want to run it -- it's so big for a 5K (last year, there were 3,000 runners and no timing chips), and the bigger the crowd, the less I likey. I will probably run it, but I may make the decision at the last minute. Also, I was planning on running a separate 5K on the 5th, mostly because it's a bridge run, and I thought the challenge of that might be cool, but I haven't done nay hill work, so now I think it might just be hard. Plus, do I want to run 2 5Ks in one week?
Anyway, that's the only racing currently in contemplation, and if nothing else, April should be the month in which I decide on some races for the future calender.

Failure is the furthest description I can possibly think of - unless "failure" = "rockstar"!
What is your monthly mileage goal if I may ask?
It has been a busy year so far. I feel like all I've done is run around. Maybe that's why Wilson's either mopey or psycho these past couple weeks.
Thanks for the good time yesterday and all the work you put in.
I am an April baby too 27th. Good stock--those April babies.
March is about over...forget about it.
Don't be so hard on yourself. Things happen. It's best to have fun.
I think March has been a hard month in general - the weather has sucked at least here in Chicago - and it has flown by. Here's to April and your birthdays.
I'm trying to decide about a few races right now as well, I'm waiting to see how things pan out injury wise before I sign up for anything though.
Your totals for March look good to me!
I hear ya with the low mileage. I'm chalking up my disappointing totals to winter weather and school/work schedule.
I need to get a handle on things, or my Memorial Day marathon will be a bust!
The past 3 months have been low mileage for me :-X Don't feel bad chica!
April is B-day par-tay central. Mr McG's B-day is in April as well as my Mom LOL It might be tight getting your gift in :P
I think it has just been "that kind of winter" - everyone has the blahs (I think I ran about HALF of your month's total - that's just WAY bad!). Instead of worrying about the lows of March, look ahead to some fresh goals for April. It sounds like there are some good race possibilities brewing to help you get out of the winter running dumps. Good luck!
March is the cruelest of months.
Wait, maybe that's April...
March did come and go so fast! I can only imagine what April will be like! I look forward to warmer temps!
I had a schmach month too, low mileage, bad knees etc, oh well we've April fools to look forward to!
Faliure far from it. Did yourun some of the fasest miles this month? Why yes you did!
Looking forward to see what is ahead on the race schedule for you.
^did you
^fastest (may not be a word)
got to get to sleep
Viv brings up a great point!! You have been running some speedy miles in March!!
I am catching up and reading about the student apathy and excuses they came up with to get out of the quizzes made me chuckle. It sounds like they need an, accept some responsibility lecture.
Low mileage over here too sista. But i'm kinda diggin' it. My body isn't *hurting* all the time. I don't what will happen when marathon training starts. I might have to look into one of those 3 days a week plan.
Hey, don't sweat it, life happens. You've maintained a reasonable base, it's not like you quit running for several weeks. Maybe it will help to get some things on the calendar, too.
It's always a new day today. I've been feeling "blah" about where I am at with my weekly mileage for the last two weeks. But in the overzealous urge to "make it up" i'm really trying not to overtrain & wind up injured.
