L'Shanah Tovah!

Yes, I pulled a little Hebrew outta my repertoire for this post's title. I learned that the above greeting is the one most appropriate for Rosh Hashanah -- see, teachers don't just teach, they learn as well.
But I need to digress for two moments:
  • People, people! The only kind of cupcake to have is yellow cake with chocolate frosting! That's the only kind of cake we make in this household, so don't tarnish the good cupcake name by suggesting other flavors. Sheesh.
  • Also, David, Nancy, don't go encouraging Ryan by suggesting I drink Miller Lite -- that stuff is toad piss, and you remember it. Bud Light is the beer of champions. Plus, they spell "light" like Americans, not like those dirty Miller brewers who use the Canuck spelling.
Anyhoo...today, I have the day off! That's right! Today is the Jewish high holiday, Rosh Hashanah, but at school, we call it "fall holiday." At any rate, I get it off, which is super duper. Personally, I'm not Jewish; in fact, I am a person who is sans religion, but I think holidays are splendiferous and I enjoy the day to sleep in.

That was first on my list to do (guess I can add my little mental check mark next to that one), but I also have several other things I want to do on my day off, not all of them are very fun: clean the house, wash the bedding, grade papers, go to Target (need q-tips and sandwich bags), go get my eyebrows waxed off, gas up the car, and go to the bookstore (that's my fun one!). Well, best to start my busy day! (That means I'm gonna sip coffee and read blogs for an hour -- then, start my day.)

Shalom, homies!

Enjoy your day off! LOL. I spent my evening last night trying to broaden the horizons of one of my customers who only drinks Mich Ultra... So many beers, so little time :-)

I also have the day off--I also have mentally checked off "sleep in" and I also have to clean the house. But then I can do whatever I want. I love days off!!

Have a great day off! Good job on getting those 5 miles in last night :)

Ooooooo lucky you!! Enjoy the day!

My sister is the same way (with the cupcakes) she'll only eat the chocolate with the vanilla frosting (gross, that's the only kind I don't like :P)

Happy New Year is equally appropriate. And since I'm a rung below "non-practicing" I answered my phone with a resounding Happy New Year last night. Unfortunately, next week's holiday falls on a Saturday so no time off. And there will be no fasting with a 20 miler (or maybe 22-23) the following day.

I did have a long comment written. suffice it to say I'm not offended by your comment and maybe I'll write the other stuff tomorrow.

Holy high holiday, Batman! Well, I'm glad you got a make up day/mini weekend/goof off day. It's nice to have a few of those sprinkled in every now and then.

Sorry, I've just never had the palate for any Buttwiper products, especially not Butt Light. Now don't get me wrong; my favorite brand of beer is free, so I would drink one if offered. I just wouldn't purchase one if given the choice of just about anything else. But I do understand that some people like it exclusively. I wonder if all of you are cupcakeists?

he he heeeeee

BTW, you blog routinely gives me errors that I've misspelled the verification word, and no others do it. Do you have some kind of sneaky software that detects non-Bud drinkers and gives us a hard time? Or do I just type like a drunk giraffe? (it just did it on this reply, too!)

wow. comparing bud light to miller light is like comparing the bubonic plague to the bird flu. both suck, but one less than the other.

So rad you have the day off... even though you're doing chores, and a drop by the bookstore, at least you'll get some things accomplished.

Have a fun, fun day.

So, Jess, what bookstore do you frequent? You buy a lot of books. Are you an exclusive B&N shopper, or maybe a Borders, or a local gem?

OMG. I seriously love yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Damn. I might have to make some this weekend. Maybe I will wait until sunday, that way I can take the leftover ones to share with the other teachers.

I hope you enjoyed your day off... I am super duper jealous!

I want the day off!!

P.S. Don't get me wrong, I *love* Target, but why not hit up good ole Dollar G for q-tips and sandwich bags? I do that to stay away from cute purses and other things I don't need, hehe.
