Friggin' Mondays

I woke up this morning to this tidbit from my husband: "Morning hon, Scooter had diarrhea. I cleaned up most of it in the entry way, but it's all over the guest bed's sheets, pillows, and comforter. Do you want me to take care of it?"

"No," I told him, "Don't be late for work. I'll get it." So, when I got up, there was a poo-covered guest bed to tend to. Poor Scooter. His tummy has been upset since Sunday morning when we were awakened by his retching in the corner of the bedroom (why is that dogs always puke either in the middle of the night or at like 5 am?), and the upset must've continued into the day and night -- we suspect the butt-explosion must've happened in the middle of the night. I sympathize; I know how it is when you've gotta go but there's nowhere to go. At least all the sheets and the comforter are washable -- I did, however, throw out 2 pillows.

So, that was not a great start to the day. Then, school was incredibly busy -- stacks of papers to get through, students dropping by, emails to answer, etc. When I left, I still brought home tons with me (I have two stacks of stuff I should try and plow through this evening): this is the consequence of shoving all that work aside during the weekend. Oh well, Saturday and Sunday were nice.

After school, I had just one more errand: I had to go by David's Bridal and get fitted for a bridesmaid dress. The wedding isn't until March, but this bride is ready, so the rest of the party has already selected their dresses and I'm the last to get in there. I arrived at the place around 5, and once the lady determined that I was a bridesmaid, not the bride, this was her attitude: there are the dresses, when you want to try one on, there are the fitting rooms. Then, poof! She was gone.

So, I pulled a few off the rack (the bride has a color, but is allowing us to choose our style) and headed for the fitting room. There, the door was unlocked for me and then I never saw an attendant again. Let me tell you, it's not easy shimmying into some of those gowns by yourself, let alone zipping yourself into them. Plus, in the end, I really couldn't judge which one I liked best; I narrowed it down between this one:
And this one:
But got no further than that. And, I'm not entirely sure which size I should go with. The size smaller, which fits, but is good and snug? Or the size larger, which is a little loose but could probably be brought in when I get it altered? Without anyone to consult with, I changed back into my regular clothes and just left. I guess I'll return with a friend and I'll have my "bitch game" on, because I guess I need it in order to get attention there.

Needless to say, by the end of the day, I was foul. And I didn't want to run. However, I know that when I don't want to run -- that is exactly when I need it most. So, I changed, pulled on my shoes and hit the asphalt. I just did 3 miles because I wanted to test the knee, and I didn't take the Garmin along for the ride. The 3 went well, no knee pain, and my legs were good after yesterday's massage.

The run felt great, the day's ickiness melted away and I truly was feeling renewed when I got home. Plus, it was encouraging that my knee felt fine; however, the truer test of its reoccurring pain will be Saturday's long run since it usually takes far more than 3 miles for the pain to set in. Until then, I'll continue with the instructions the masseuse gave me and hope for the best.

Oh man, the dog poo is too much then add the dress fitting to that and my day would be done as well.

I like both of the dresses you picked out. What time is the wedding? For an evening wedding I would pick the first one. Not sure about the sizing though.

LOL! I forgot about IKEA/IT Band. Same thing for sure.

I was just going to ask the same thing as Lisa. Night or day wedding? Oooohhhhh I love them both! And I especially love the colors. I want to play dress up too! I wish my sister would get amrried already :P after living in sweatpants and hoodies for the past 3 years you get excited about these things LOL

Excuse me "color" . . .moron.

Ugghhh I mean I'm a moron. I should just stop now . . . LOL

Sounds like you didn't have the greatest day!

Isn't it supposed to be an honor to be a bridesmaid? If so, why does it always seem like a form of torture? I like the first dress from the picture, but it depends on which you are more comfortable in!

Glad to hear the knee seems to be doing well.

My vote is for number 2, not scooters, the dress.

Wait, if nobody was helping you, then who took the pictures? I don't get it. And is the wedding for the friend that went shopping at Ikea? What's that buzzing sound?

Sure sounds like a Monday to me. Of course, any day the dog sprays trouser chili all over the guest bed, it qualifies as a "Monday" event. You handled the day better than I would have, especially the bridal shop. AND you got 3 in, which is great. Way to kick your butt out there for a run.

I hope Scooter is feeling better.

BTW I love the short one. Hope they are nicer next time.

The weather and time of day will have a lot to do with the dress choice if you ask me... the nicer the weather, the shorter the dress... and I agree w/ j-mom that longer is "technically" best for evening or more formal weddings.

Or you could just say forget it and go with whichever one you're most comfortable in!!!

Is there a woman rule about dress length compared to relative altitudeness of the person wearing it? Would that mean the long one would be better for those that breathe richer oxygen levels (closer to ground level)?

Sorry to hear about your crap day. Store salespeople rarely want to help customers...I like the second one better, though.

Since you and I have very similar body types, I'd go with the second. After being a bridesmaid and a bride last year, I tried on many dresses, and I think it would be much more flattering. Long poofy dresses made me look like a midget! :)

Poor scooter!!!

The dresses are pretty, but I am a little miffed about the attendant.

My vote is for #2.

I like the dress. Very pretty... I have four dogs. They don't get sick at the same time either.

Funny how a little endorphins can pick us up :-)

Perhaps poor Scooter has developed the dreaded "butt weakness"...

Who knows, it might be contagious.

yeah... my dog only gets sick just as we are getting ready to leave the house or right before we go to bed. She's got flawless timing.

I vote for the shorter dress, if you are taking a tally ;)

Also, I had the same problem at David's and I was the bride! The salespeople just left me on my own... luckily I had my mil and bridesmaids with me. I'm tellin' ya, there is NO WAY to get in and out of those dresses without help. I'm impressed you managed it!

Ugh. My doggy had the same thing happen a few weeks ago, but hers was ALL over the carpet. VERY hard to clean up!

As for the dress, both are pretty, but I *love love love* the 2nd one!!

i'd go with the short one if i were so inclined to wear a dress.

green is so not my color, though. thank goodness it's you going to the wedding and not me.

I like the 2nd one too! Hope Scooter is feeling better!

I like them both..but the 2nd one, when next to the first one looks like it's too short and missing something...so, i dunno I'm leaning toward the first one. Your husband is pretty lucky i'm pretty sure I would of been "please clean it up even if you'll be late for work" lol

re: Middlesex . I was the one that didn't enjoy that book. As I remember it I felt like each chapter was just rehashing the previous one...perhaps I'll revisit memoirs when I finish the other two books I bought...

There is a silver lining...at least it was the dog who pooed!

The first dress is the same one I'm wearing for my dad's wedding! It's such a gorgeous dress! So that's my vote!

Hope Scooter is feeling better! Marley's been sick like that a few times. I've heard that plan white rice and plain ground beef is a good food for dogs who have upset stomachs. It's supposed to settle their system.

Sorry to hear about your poopy day (no pun intended). That really sucks Scooter was sick - hope he's better now.

I like both the dresses, but I like the 2nd one better, just something about it.

you've probably seen this, but it is a link about clothing to wear based on temps...seeing as I think my blood has thinned out after 3 years in S.Fla I'm thinking I'll buy a pair of gloves just in case and a throwaway long sleeve shirt for the start of the race if it is below 60F. covering the ears is still problematic if it is really cold.

Both dresses are beautiful! My vote is for #2.

I can't believe the attendant just left!
