Doctor Visit

Had a dr. check up this morning, and by and large, it was uneventful and everything is normal. Here are some stats:
  • Gained another few pounds, so I'm up 16.5 lbs overall.
  • My blood pressure remains average as well (110/72), and I don't have any swelling, so that's all good.
  • My glucose screening came back normal, and that's also good.
  • Norah's heart rate was again strong and healthy.

The only two blips on the radar were:

  • My iron is a little low. Not low enough for the dr. to prescribe a daily iron pill, but she said I should pick up an over the counter supplement and take it 2-3 days a week. Also, I should try eating more broccoli, spinach, and red meat. Jerry snickered at me being directed to eat more red meat since becoming pregnant, eating meat hasn't been my strong suit.
  • My fundal height (measurement of the growth of my uterus) was slightly big. The dr. wasn't concerned about it since this is the first time it's measured slightly larger, and it's very possible that how the baby is positioned could affect the day's measurement.

So, all in all, a good visit. Now, I start going every two weeks, instead of once a month, for my check ups.

Glad everything is ok. In my experience I can tell you're definately carrying a girl. When i was pregnant with all 3 of my boys I was a CANIBAL! I couldn't get enough meat. Arby's and Bar-
B-Q were my definate cravings.

Have fun scarfin' down the burgers...

16.5 pounds! Norah is going to be HUUUUUUGE! OK, probably not. I just like saying HUUUUUUGE!

Good to hear that all is well.

yea checking every 2 weeks is going to be different. Now is when norah's only job is to grow grow grow. everything is there, just needs to get bigger. So you're going to gain a lot of weight. which is a good thing.

btw, kelley showed iron deficient as well during one of the pregnancies. the doctor told her to eat tons of red meat.

he also told her she needed to take in more dietary fat in the last month of pregnancy and first 3 months of breastfeeding, so he actually told her to eat lots of krispy kreme doughnuts! how crazy is that!

Good stats. I took my iron pills daily but if you start-grab the colace to go with it. Otherwise you will be having a different type of poo problem.

Ah, the 2 week visits. It's exciting but also annoying since all you do is wait, pee, measure, wait, wait, wait, 2 minutes of check up and then you are done.

I can't believe how close it is now. I am so excited for Norah to arrive.

My last appt sounded very much the same. Time for an iron supplement and more red meat! Oh, except I've gained a bit more than 16.5 lbs! Oops!
