Back to Reality

The storm gave us a small reprieve from the regular work week, but today it's back to work and back to normal routines. Bah.

I think today is gonna be a day off from running because I have a concert tonight and I'm not going to have time between work and concert-going to get a run in and I did not get up early this morning to get it done (it's hard with the Olympics keeping me up until midnight every night). We're going to see Stone Temple Pilots this evening at the Hard Rock; should be a good time. One irony about this is that when I was in high school (maybe it was late middle school -- sometimes my timelines get confused), my mom made me get rid of my Stone Temple Pilots tape (had to be middle school; I think by high school, CDs were out) because she said it was the devil's music.

My mom was always rigid about our music because of her faith, yet I don't know if anyone ever told her that if you tell a teenager to not do something, it will make them want to do it even more. So, all the music my mom ever hated of mine? That's still the stuff I love.

Have fun, and true, true, true, my mom made me get rid of Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane. LOL....

I'll bet STP still puts on a good show. The DeLeo (sp?) brothers rock pretty well.

Now that the weekend is over, feel free to get arrested. Just make sure Jerry takes pics.

You go to more concerts than anyone I know/read. STP was high school fo sho.

I was not allowed to listen to Madonna because of the song "LIke a Virgin" and "Material Girl." My mom said "you are not a material girl, you are God's girl!" That's a direct quote. I think she still cringes at the thought of Madonna today. Which of course, makes me love her even more (Madonna, not my mom).

BTW, can you email me at mom2shoo at gmail.com? I have a quick question for you...

That should be a bad ass show! Have fun!! Throw away music. My Mom made me throw away Madonna as well. I still remind her of that shit and she says I should have let you keep them you still turned out the same. WTH does that mean?!
anywhoo...rock out!

Really? My mom is the exact opposite. She actually had some albums that I wanted. Anyway, enjoy the show.

Oooo I love STP. Sounds like it's gonna be a killer time. Man, I always felt bad for kids like you :P I remember having an R Kelly CD in like 9th or 10th grade and my Dad picked it up and looked at the back and goes "Hmmmmmm a song on here called "I Like The Crotch On You" Interesting." and then laughed about it. Man, if my kids ever listen to the sheet I listened to, I just don't even know. It's funny how things change when you're a parent. GAH

I too was one of those teenagers. Whatever she said I did the opposite. Sometimes I wonder if she knew and did it on purpose told me one thing knowing I would do the other...ummm

I imagine you were a bit of the rebellious type as a youngster. Me too! My parents were never too strict about what music I listened to though. Enjoy the show.
