Hell in a Handbasket

The running has gone downhill this week: no run yesterday or today. Yesterday, I was too tired and today -- well, I don't really have an excuse; except that this evening we went to a friend's for bbq and beer and the run did not get done beforehand.

I'm gonna have to make my Saturday 8 miler really count since the mileage this week has been weak.

Of course, I'll probably save that 8 for evening. Tomorrow? I am SO looking forward to sleeping in!

No joke! Mendy and I had a spotty-at-best training log prior to the RnR Half. But make it quality, and you'll do fine. Try to force it (natural, with the mindset to "catch up"), and you could get discouraged or injured. Don't want that now, do you?
;-)

Oh, and here's the bridge run info:

But if you are considering RnR Va Beach Half (AKA Javafest 2008 v2) then I would be hard pressed to sway your opinion. And, of course, we would love to show you and your husband around our fair city if you wanted to cruise up this way in the fall.

I can't believe I'm writing this at 6:15am on a Sat. Yeah, I set my clock for reserves 1 hr early, got dressed, got to the center and NO cars were there. Oops.. "it's 6:00 not 7:00" - Damn.

Re: races.
As far as races to travel for, the Charleston Bridge is about a 38K people 10K. It's over the newly large bridge in Charleston and apparantly a really nice race. I lived down there for 2 yrs, and live 3 hrs from it and never have done it. Blah...

But, if you're thinking of coming up this way. VA beach all the way! I think we're gonna have the same crew... so you don't want to miss that!!!

I'd love for you guys to come to G'ville. The race itself isn't highly supported in the area like a big full/half, and it's quite hilly, as is all of our area.

Let's definitely plan on meeting up at a race this yr, Jess.

Hope your 8 miler goes well today.

You'll catch up on those runs this weekend, sometimes we just need a break. Especially after a Foo Fighters concert!

One thing I like about reading your blog Jess is that you seem to keep the running & fun life stuff in balance. Sure you might have taken a couple of days off, but you'll be back! ;) Enjoy those zzzzzs!

Sometimes life just keeps you from running and that is ok. Plus, I think having some days off from running keeps you motivated to continue. I am sure you'll have some great runs this week.

It's all good, homie!! It's winter time (ok maybe not for you :P) and we all kind of slack. It's no thang chicken wing ;-)

I so agree with Marcy - it is winter time...relax, enjoy, then get back to running. Besides, 2 football games and lots of beer drinking to do tomorrow !
