Time on my Hands

I gotta say, this week has been pretty sweet so far.

For the first time in about 5 or 6 weeks, I finally feel like I'm caught up with shiz-nit. All my work at school is caught up. The house is squeaky clean, I've been getting my runs in. I've had time to finish a book and watch all my Netflix. Geez. Did I get just one extra hour with the time change?

Anyway, early this evening when my hubby got home, we were chatting in the living room and I was fidgeting to go for a run, but we were having a nice chat and I didn't really want to go for the run and cut the chatting short. So, I suggested a "family walk" -- he, Scooter and I -- since Scooter and I didn't do our weekly long walk yesterday. Hubby agreed and we were off.

We did the 3 mile loop that I often run, but because the hubby has proclaimed that the only reason to run is "if you're being chased," we just walked. It was a fine evening for the stroll: cool temps continue and even though it was dusky by the time we got home, it was still light enough to be out and about. When we got back, we fixed ourselves dinner, and settled in for a little "Ugly Betty" on DVD (I am really enjoying this show; does anyone else watch it?).

Every week should be this easy-going.

The only downside to this time change is that it is only 8 pm right now, yet it feels like it has to be about 11. Shouldn't I be in bed?

couldn't Scooter chase hubby?

I guess since all of my clocks are set to different times (various number of minutes ahead) and I traveled on the day with the extra hour I don't really feel anymore screwed up than usual.

look at me giving myself a left-handed complimented for dealing with the time change well.

You're right - it does feel late. We were on our way to Target and I said "it's only 6:30", when it felt and looked like 8ish. Anyway, it's nice to have some sun wake me up, but not light long enough in the afternoon for my runs. Guess that's what we get...

Sounds like an enjoyable family evening. I want to know how you got everything all caught up. I'm always behind in every category. Oh well.

Thinking about what you said about how my leg/shin pain might be knee related. Thanks for that. I'm definately starting to think it's not directly related to where the pain is at.

We do the family walk quite frequently :) My spouse feels the same as yours when it comes to running ... I am not even sure he would run to avoid an attack! But on our family walks, the dog practically skips she gets so excited when the three of us go out - so its worth it just for that point alone.

How do I get a week like that???
O yeah, I have kids. :D

Maybe Jer-Bear can be your walking partner on Tuesday nights until I get back in the swing of things in a week or two. Ryan hates walking because it's "boring" but I enjoy it.

I planned on becoming a Betty fan once I bought the dvd's. I can't stay up late enough to watch Deco Drive much less real tv shows. I saw a few episodes last year and liked it.

That sounds like a wonderful evening! I too feel like I should be in bed way to early. I thought the clocks only changed by an hour, what's up with that? lol

Hope the old ball 'n chain appreciates that you chose time with him over running alone. Does sound like a nice family walk, though. Does Scooter walk you, or do you walk him? He doesn't strike me as one of those dogs that tries to choke themselves out hoping to go just a bit faster.

I'll trade you some of my restrained energy for some of your sense of accomplishment!

Please send some of your shiz-nit togetheredness over this way.

Thanks in advance,

Tell hubby it doesn't do any good to run from somebody only to collapse and die about 75 yards away :-)

LMAO! I agree with Wendy. Stick some bacon in DH's shorts and you should be good to go :P

Dang girl look at you set and ready to go. I hear you on the "late" feeling. I've been going to be around 9-9:30pm LOL

Sounds like a great evening!! I always feel so guilty thinking about the few hours my hubby and I have to spend at home in the evening and sometimes many of those are taken by my running activities. My hubby has absolutely no interest in running either (or traveling to races!) so trying to get him to go for a run is impossible. A walk though is doable. I'm also jealous that you're so caught up!

Aww, how sweet, a family walk. That's a great feeling to be on top of things. Good for you! I have watched a few Ugly Betty's and really really liked it. Too funny. And, yeah, the sun sets up here at 4:44 p.m. today, according to the Weather Channel. That is just freaking wrong.

Aww...scooter can make it on a 3 mile walk?! I'm jealous. Phog is pooped after a half mile...and then it's us dragging him around...

But Ugly Betty is a fantastically campy show. I love it to bits!

I am so jealous of you! I feel even more behind than usual this week for some reason. Maybe because I feel like my nights are gone before I ever even walk through the door :P

That family walk sounds awesome! I would definitely trade a run now and then for some healthy bonding time :)

And I am an Ugly Betty lover, too!

I am in opposite shape of you. I have piles of laundry to do. Maybe later this weekend I will get caught up....

Your evening sounds like it was relaxing!

That sounds like the perfect week/evening.

And I'm cracking up at Wendy's first line on her comment. Haha.
