The Cold is Coming; The Cold is Coming!

So, in the paper today, it forecast the weather here in South Florida to get a bitt nippy over the next few days. By tomorrow morning, it could dip into the 40s! And over the weekend, highs are expected to only reach the 50s or 60s. Brrrrr....So how does that affect me?

It means that I'm finally gonna get the running weather I'd hoped to have in Chicago!

Granted, starting out in 40 degrees is a bit too chilly for my taste, but once I'm a few miles in, it will feel awesome. But...I suppose this does mean that I need to dig out a long sleeved shirt, doesn't it? I wonder if I will feel the need to also don a hat and gloves? Huh, we'll have to see. I could potentially over-react to this change in temp.

Oh, that's okay. Maybe I'll also have use of a sweater or a jacket this weekend! Yay. I only get to wear that stuff a handful of times a year!

50 degrees means I get to breakout the fleece - yippee!

Geez, as a naturalized Floridian, I'm surprised you won't be wearing a nice sherpa coat and alpaca skin hat.

But yeah, it is good running weather.

50 degrees? oh, brr! Dare you even venture out?

(typing as i adjust the bearskin rug thrown over my shoulders and stoke the fire under slowly melting seal blubber on the stove. going to go cut hunks of ice off the lake to melt for my bathwater later on).

I will be loving it but freezing my butt off! That's what I get for living in FL for too long!

I notice a constant theme for us Northerners that moved South...50-60 degrees is great no matter where you live. In the North, it usually means sping is coming and it's time to whip out the shorts. In the South, it a breath of fresh air from the hot and humid dulldrums we constantly have.

It certainly increases the holiday spirit for me because something about 90 degree weather doesn't bring on the Christmas cheer. Enjoy your run and don't you dare complain if you are cold-keep that secret to yourself or your bloggers may revolt!

It's already in the 20's at night. Brrrr. I would love 40's tonight instead of that.

I have no pity for you, Floridian!

We're getting a cold front in tonight too. Haven't seen the news yet, but the weathermen kept announcing temps in the 30's overnight. I may actually get to use the heater in my car seat.

You're big time!
Check it out: I was searching for how
long it takes to form a habit for a school assignment (I'm getting my MBA) and you came up on the first page: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=how+long+to+form+a+habit%3F&btnG=Google+Search
I clicked through when I saw 'running' and got hooked on your blog. When I saw you were an english prof on top of it all I figured I had to drop you a line; I
wrote a few books on running and now that you 'got it' I think (here
comes the shameless plug) you may dig 'em. I linked to 'em.

Love the blog, good luck with the running!
Best,
Chris Lear

Brr.... You're too much! That's probably as cold as it gets, huh? I'd love to have the temp more months out of the year - very comfy running temps.

Jess, come join us in Jan for the RnR!

45deg is great running temps, in my mind. Lucky you!!

Being that you're a Floridian, I would expect you to be running in full winter garb at those temps.

Me...shorts/skirt and a long sleeve shirt.

You should do a long run in the coolness.

Enjoy!!

You Florida gals are so cute with your "It's 60! Get out the wool coats!" You'll have a great run in that weather. And don't forget to take a picture with Wendy and share it with us next week. Have fun!

Love your blog! Been really enjoying reading it on a daily basis. This is interesting.. me as a Nor'eastern boy. I love running when its between 35 to 50 degrees. I go apesh*t. I am like the guy who jump for joy. I die for this!I run in my short and short sleeve t-shirt with Mickey Mouse gloves on. All the southerners really do complain big time when it gets that cold. You ain't getting any kind of pity! This is a dream to run into! Your blog rocks!

Hmmm. Here in snowy Colorado we're rocking the 70s this weekend... I'll pity you! Get out there and run anyway, and have a great weekend!

We had a similar temperature drop. I am drooling over busting out jeans this week. Sweet!
