Christmas Fev-ah

Even though I did spend some time on the couch yesterday, I also got started on my Christmas shopping, but I didn't do nearly as much as my husband did (he's nearly done with his shopping -- bastard). So, today we decided to wrap a few gifts and watch my all time favorite x-mas movie "Christmas Vacation" (my fav line from that movie? "Don't throw me down Clark." "I'll try not to Aunt Bethany.") And even though my husband was completely opposed to putting up the tree this early -- he usually insists that it can't go up until after Thanksgiving -- the movie and the wrapping must've put him in the appropriate holiday spirit, so we put up our tree!

Here below is Scooter helping my husband out with the lights. Scooter's job is mostly supervisory, but he takes it seriously nonetheless.
When we weren't looking, he crawled under the coffee table to have a little gnaw on the Santa hat.
Here I am deciding the strategic placement of an ornament. A tree must be balanced in its ornaments and I like to ensure that there isn't crowding in some areas and blank spots in others. That's why our tree decorating is a strict division of labor: My husband assembles it and puts on the lights; I add the ornaments. So far, it's a system that works well.
I tried to get a "family shot" of the 3 of us by the tree but it resulted in several failed attempts. Believe it or not, this is the best of the bunch.
Finally, Scooter was tuckered out -- gnawing on the Santa hat, supervising the decoration of the tree, running around with empty wrapping paper tubes -- it's a lot for a little dog on a Sunday. Still, even tired, he wasn't ready to relinquish the Santa hat.

You guys are really ahead of the game doing Christmas before Thanksgiving--but it looked like you were having a great time. Did you drink any spiked egg nog?

Scooter looks so little in these pictures! I have been holding off on the decorating until after Thanksgiving. My guess is I will send Ryan and Andy on their merry way Friday or Saturday so I can get our house organized. I know I said I was going to wait to buy a new tree but I am really leaning towards a new one this week!

I wanted to get some more shopping done today but the couch has held me hostage.

How cute you all are! I used to think it was insanity to put the stuff up early, but I am beginning to think it is actually efficient...to use the stuff for more than a couple of weeks.

SHUT UP!!!!! You DID NOT decorate already!!! You're nuttier than me LOL. I'm soooooooo itching to put the tree and decorations up already, I see a billion people's homes with their lights up already. But I will wait . . .until Friday *sigh* Looks GREAT!!

Given the title, I expected to see Scooter getting his groove on under a disco ball...or at least the husband in a Boogie Nights-like costume.

That is quite an accusation coming from Marcy "you are nuttier than me." That woman was Christmas shopping a few weeks ago.

You know, one radio station started playing Christmas music before Halloween. I'm starting to wonder if Christmas is going to be on the 19th this year, or something.

Looks like a fun day despite the chores. Can we start guessing what you are getting us for Christmas?
:-p

I sooo can't imagine getting a tree yet. Our local farm market doesn't even have them outside for sale yet. Sigh..... Guess it will be an early "decorating the tree" this year for us, cause as Grace gets older, she's enjoying the season more.

Love the pics, as always! You guys look like a lovely family!

I'm glad to see someone else is overly excited for Christmas! I *love* that movie! Every single time I hear Mele Kaliki Maka I think of it.

P.S. Love your headband!

I hear that the only prescription for Christmas Fev-ah is more jingle bell.

That makes me think of two things. 1) I have no idea how Bandit is going to do with the tree (we didn't have him last year at Christmas). yikes!! 2) When my kids were little the tree was very imbalanced because they could only reach so far. It might have driven you nuts. LOL

Holy crap, girl! You are taking this cold weather seriously! Nice pace on those runs! You guys look like you are having a great time setting up the tree. My ornaments usually end up chewed up somewhere around the house :-) One tree doesn't stand a chance against four dogs.

We did the same thing!! It's not to early, you gotta enjoy the fruits of your labor for as long as possible. We are lucky to have men that help!! :D

Wow you are so on the ball with the shopping and the decorating. I'm always so last minute as in the past three years I've wrapped all my gifts at like midnight Christmas Eve.

Would you come do mine now? =)

I am so totally in the mood to put up my tree now! But I'm not sure there are even any for sale around here yet. Scooter is precious!

ok I am officially getting into the holiday spirit.

The family pic is too cute wih Scooter barely in the shot.

*I am too much of a freak with the ornaments. I follow the same guidelines as yours and I add the no two similar ornaments next to each other.

I love Scooter! My dog likes the empty wrapping paper tubes too!

How do you get your husband to help so much with the tree? Mine just sits there and acts like he has never seen a Christmas Tree before, while I spend hours putting it together. Tell me your secret!
