It's kinda like being pregnant again, but instead of carrying her on the inside, I'm wearing her on the outside like the most giant fashion accessory ever.Every day, Norah goes through a "phase" that lasts from about, oh, noon to 8 pm, where she mostly just wants to be held. This is fine, except for when I gots shiz to do, so yesterday I decided to give the Baby Bjorn a test. I stuffed her in there, and then set about my chores. Worked like a charm. She slept peacefully and I was able to get stuff done: Success!
But I will tell you this: carting around 8 lbs of baby while vacuuming is a WORKOUT.
In other news, yesterday I also put on my big girl panties and I took Norah to Target. It was the first time I've taken her somewhere without Jerry. Our entire trip took less than an hour, but it felt like a triumph to me, and now that I know I can do it, it helps me feel a little less trapped at home. Who knew that victory could take such shapes?

You and Norah and Baby Bjorn + Hills = Great workout!
Glad that worked out for you!
Wow that certainly is a workout!
Congrats all around!
I'll bet she's pretty cozy in there! Looks like a good way to get things done. Also, congrats on the Target trip!
awesome.
You're so cute with your little Bjorn.
The outtings are fun breaks up the day a bit. Look at you sporting the Bjorn. I am glad it did the trick for her.
she just wants to hear her mommy's heartbeat and snuggle....what a little sweetpea.
Glad you put on your big girl panties and got out of the house...
We love our Baby Bjorn, too! I don't know what I'd do without it.
We had a Moby Wrap that was a life-saver!
Congrats on the Target trip!
I just started a job at a local running store, and the owner has a 9 wk old girl who is at the store often, so I'm multi-tasking shoes sales with baby watching at times. Mad props for being able to carry her and do things - it made me darn tired!
I'm a sling girl myself, but I got really good at doing stuff while wearing Shoo. Heck, I still sometimes carry him on my back in my Ergo (which I highly recommend once she gets bigger and heavier).
Good job getting out of the house.
Congrats on your first outing. I bet that is a workout carting her around and vacuuming...maybe you can strap her to Scooter:)
i can't believe you ran the vaccuum and she didn't wake up screaming. now is the time (for us at least) where sleeping baby was priority 1. That means anything (ringing phone, doorbell, vaccuum, husband) had to be completely silenced lest it get it's head ripped off for waking the baby up.
target trips can be very freeing. congrats!
Target was always my first venture out of the house with the kiddos. I could not live without the Bjorn.
Glad you were able to put her in the Baby Bjorn and still get stuff done!
get out as much as you can now, once they turn oh say 17 months old, they want nothing to do with stores (or restaurants), well at least my son doesn't. I cannot take him anywhere alone - he refuses to sit in the shopping buggies now.
yay!! that is awesome you took her out by yourselve already. a lot of my friends take months before they do that :)
I am sitting with my little puka strapped in her Bjorn right now... she LOVES it... she can be in complete hysterics and as soon as she gets belted in, she is silent. I've found that this accessory is also really great for shopping - my kid doesn't like her seat if we're not in the car and it frees up the cart if I have her on me! Good times. Yay for getting out of the house... its scary at first but it is LIBERATING when you get comfortable. ;)
oh my God memories...I used to have that in blue..(looks brown from here)- J used to be the same way so I'd stuff her in there and do my stuff...i think all that hanging out with me so early is what made her the mushy mush feels safest with me girl that she is today.
I love the Bjorn! My daughter went through that cranky phase so I would put her in the Bjorn and walk on the treadmill. Great workout and she was out like a light in about 2 seconds!!
You're so lucky to be able to get out! Keep it up! I gave birth in December so we had to wait until the snow thawed!
I always found vacuuming with the "bjorn" to be awkward. I kept hitting Rylee with the handle when I would make the back and forth motion... but doing laundry was the worst since I couldn't bend over (for fear she'd fall out) so I had to do a bizarre limbo move to get clothes into the dryer!
Cute picture! That was the only way I could get anything done until Sophie was 3 months old! Too bad she doesn't fit in it anymore . . .
You and Ryan are alike more than you know! He loved the Baby Bjorn but Miller was too big when I tried to use it. I couldn't get my arms in front of the both of us or bend over. I should have used it when he was smaller.
Congrats on the first outting alone. It is a major accomplishment. I recall how nervous I was to go places alone with Miller or try things out for the first time. Heck, I am still neurotic about doing things for the first time with him by myself. Glad Norah was good and it was drama free.
how cute!
i can't even imagine taking a newborn out to a store. my impression is that everything with kids takes about 4x as long and requires you bring a diaper bag, food, change of clothes, etc. with you.
:)
that is great you got out!! I use the baby bjorn anytime like that too, mainly 5-7 pm!! its even better when they get bigger!
I loved the Baby Bjorn. We called it the Jack Sack.
Babywearing is the best way to get stuff done while still pleasing the little one ;) Its also funny how people who dont have kids (or forget what its like to have a new baby) simply dont understand how monumental your trip to Target actually was! Congrats!
Lovin the Baby Bjorn-you two look so cute! Kudos to you on the vacuuming-that had to be quite the chore.
Hope Target went well. I'm thinking about making the big jump today too, although we don't have Target here in Canada (darn!) I guess Wal-Mart will have to do for his first shopping trip!
A Baby Bjorn and our Bob stroller were the two best purchases we made!
Think 8lbs is heavy wait till they get to 40 and want 'carry'!
