Wednesday Randomness

  • Thanks for the encouragement regarding labor/delivery. I'm sure I have the physical and mental fortitude for it, but like most daunting events, I think the anticipation is worse than the actual event itself.
  • Mrs. K requested a link to the story of when I pooped myself, so here it is.
  • This morning, I had another doctor check up, and again everything checked out well. I gained another 2 lbs, so I'm up 21 lbs overall -- uffda! My blood pressure remains good with a 102/70, and I'm lucky to not have any swelling yet, and I'm also lucky that I haven't had any stretch marks form yet and the belly button hasn't popped out, so I'm crossing my fingers that neither happens in the last few weeks.
  • Norah also checks out healthy: her HR is still steady and strong, and she's in the head down position. Her butt is pushing straight out in front of me, and her left foot is digging into my right side.
  • Last night was my last night of my summer class, so now I just have to finish up my term grades, and then I don't return to work until October 20th!
  • Lately, I've been working on washing all of Norah's clothes, blankets, towels, wash cloths, etc, and I have discovered that the root of the patented "baby smell" is Dreft.
  • Why don't they make blankets for adults that are as soft as the blankets for babies? I would appreciate such softness.
  • Scooter and I have been keeping at our daily walking, but lately, it's been dang hot out there. Over the weekend, we had highs in the low 100s, but yesterday we got some thunderstorms that helped cool things off some. Seems like it's awfully hot out there for June!
  • Tonight, in baby class #5, we watch "the scary video." I suspect it will illicit the same reaction its kind did when we all watched something similar in about 7th grade.
  • Leaving you with that ambiguously frightening mental image: Hope everyone enjoys a happy "hump" day!

first comment! YAY!

Just read your poop story, I don't think I was following your blog at that time... too funny!

I'm glad your doc appt went well... that things cooled off a bit... that you're getting the clothes cleaned... that both you and the baby are healthy... that your hubby loves you even after you shit yourself... etc.

Sounds like everything is going very well. Ugh...the birthing videos. I acted like I was 12 when I watched them....then again we had to watch a woman who Moooed through each contraction.

I LOVE the smell of Dreft!

I wonder if the video still has the same red head lady with zero 'scaping going on down south. That's all I remember. I blocked out the baby part.

Do you still get teased about the poopcident? I'm sure that has happened to more people than will ever admit it. I know it has ALMOST happened to me countless times.

Now all I can think about is that scene in Alien.

Thanks, dude. :)

i wish they made all kinds of kids stuff for adults. one piece pajamas with feet would be awesome.

You are an adorable pregnant lady and the birthing process isn't as bad as we make it out to be in our minds. The night before I gave birth (I was induced) I cried non-stop cause I was so scared. Then it happened and it wasn't bad at all (I love those drugs)

I just found your blog when I googled running while preggo. I am a marathon runner and am basically addicting to running. Did your doc ask you to slow down on running when you tried to get preggo? And have you taken a break from running since you have been preggo? thanks for any help!

I think the reason that many women have more than one kid is because childbirth can't be all that bad (or we all have bad memories).

Can't wait to hear what video you see. Ours was of a woman giving birth to a 14 pounder (vaginally, with no drugs...awesome...but not me!) That's really all I remember of it.

this post has left me with multiple scary images (i.e., the poop story! and "the scary video") but also delightful images of fresh smelling babies wrapped up in soft blankets. thank you for a lovely dichotomy :)

btw, glad Norah is checking out A-okay! you are going to do great during delivery.

Sounds like things are all going well.

If you don't feel like ponying up the money for more dreft, All free and clear worked well for both of my sensitive skin babies.

Yeaaa I watched three child births in one of my college courses...and they didn't leave anything out or Hollywoodize it. I think I'm scarred for life lol.

Hope the video wasn't too traumatic yesterday. Wish MY belly button hadn't popped out yet. Glad the walking is still going good. Wish I had soft blankies too - it's such a treat washing and folding everything isn't it?

Stay cool out there.

Some randomness for you too: a friend of a friend just had a baby boy and they named him Senator Justice. I figure he can finally give Pilot Inspector a run for his money when it comes to marrying Moxy Crimefighter. :)
