Way to Start the Day

Locked myself out of the house this morning -- real smooth. I had to call my husband a work (actually, because he rarely has his cell phone turned on/charged/with him, I had to call one of his work associates and have him relay the message to my husband to call me back on my cell -- my husband works for a cell phone company, folks, and he NEVER can be reached on his cell) to come and let me back in.

Number of times I have locked myself out of the house now? This makes it 4. (5, if you count the time, I thought I locked myself out, but really the key had just slipped into the lining of my shorts).

I think I need to hide that key outside. Or...maybe, make sure I have my wits about me when leaving the house instead of la-de-da-ing my way out the door. There's something to be said for my husband's OCD (he triple checks everything he does); has he ever locked himself out of anything? No. No, he has not.

That stinks! Sounds like something I am capable of doing. But, I am anal when I leave my apartment or car, I have a great fear of locking myself out of the apt or locking my keys IN my car. I guess it would be different if there was someone else around with spare keys... hehe

I've only done that once when my oldest was around 1. It sucked. Thankfully (or not LOL) MIL's house isn't that far from us and she was home from work that day.

You gotta get one of those fake stones with the compartments in them LOL

Don't forget that he locked himself outta his truck when we went camping.

Ryan: I think I have to at least claim half responsibility in that debacle.

maybe you should get one of those cleverly disguised rocks that holds your key outside. Unless you have a lot of rocks in your yard, in which case you might lose it. or in case you don't have any rocks, then it kind of looks suspicious.

maybe you'll just have to settle for not being so absent minded.

OCD can get in the way though - I mean who really wants to check multiple times every time they leave to make sure they have keys, wallet, ID, etc...

I am right there with you on being the "lock out queen". Unfortunately, I have locked two of my three kids in the car *hangs head in shame*, have locked my keys in a car RUNNING and have locked my oldest and myself out of my house in the pouring rain when he was about 6 months old. Knock on wood, it has been probably 2 years since I have done it *crosses fingers*

I had a job where keys were vital, and if you lost them you lost your job. I developed on OCD type thing, but only with keys.

I don't ever get locked out but I have lost my last 3/4 cell phones! I vote for the fake rock thingy!

I locked my keys in my car once, and ever since then I have all my keys on one of those stretchy bracelet keychain things. That way when I leave the house (or the car, when I had one), I make sure that sucker is around my wrist. Admittedly, I am more like your husband in that I am pretty OCD. So maybe that's the secret, and the bracelet has nothing to do with it.

my thing is wondering if i closed to garage door or not. most of the time i'm doubtful, i turn back and found i have, but there have been more times than i care to admit where i haven't!

Aw, crap. I hate when I do things like that. You'll come up with some sneaky hiding place for a spare key.

Ive had to climb into my house through a kitchen window four times now. Although the last one was the result of my key falling out of the key pocket in my running shorts.

Sure is nice to realize "hey. none of my neighbors call the cops when someone is crawling through a window at dusk."
