I wanted to get up early this morning and do my 8 miles in the dawn's early light (how many of you thought it was "danzerly light" when you were kids? tell me I wasn't the only one!), but when my alarm went off at 5, I simply turned it off and went back to sleep. At 6, my husband asked if I was gonna get up and go run; "no" I told him. Early mornings just aren't my forte. Especially in the middle of the week -- on Saturday it's a different story because I can go back to bed after I'm done with the long run. On a Wednesday, I gots shiz to do.
Therefore, I'm gonna need to do the 8 this evening, which kinda sucks because I was gonna meet with the gang at happy hour for food, drinks, and then a viewing of "Superbad." But I think I'm gonna stay home now so I can go running. I'm probably gonna catch hell for missing it, but what can I say? I suck at getting up early, I need to get my run in, I'm in marathon training -- so I guess I'm a big dull, dud. Sorry homies.

Eh, that's alright Jess. Not going out tonight will keep you away from the sauce, which was one of your goals. You could just meet us for the movie(7:30) instead of predrinking. Keep in mind that not every lady gets the pleasure of hangin out with us dudes. We won't take it personal this time....
Oh, the sacrifices we make for marathon training. They suck, don't they? But just visualize yourself in all your glory as you cross that finish line! BTW, I never thought it was "danzerly light," but I did think "sleep in heavenly peace" was "sleep in heavenly sleep." It gets worse: As an adult, I thought INXS was singing about a "supersonic blonde" instead of "suicide (al?) blonde." I could go on...hey, maybe that's a blog post idea!
I often wish I could be a morning person, too. Not even to get to run, but just to get ready in the mornings without having to run around screaming like a drill sargeant to get the kids up and moving fast enough :P
The run will be good tonight and it will keep you good to your word about cutting back on the booze.
I'm not a morning person either, but once I get up and get going, I'm always so happy I did... Onward and upward :-)
Nope, you're not a big dull dud. You're in marathon training, just as you said. There's always another morning with your alarm clock.
Good luck on the run! Way to stick to your trying.
The only time I can wake up to run is when I know I can go back to sleep! I understand you!
Hopefully you took Ryan up on the suggestion and met up for the movie - though I know fitting in 8 miles before a 7:30pm movie would mean running on smoking hot asphalt...
you're dull...ha, look at me...I dread dinner out because it ruins runs...
Happy hour was ok but you didn't miss much. Good for you for sticking to your guns. I on the other hand ate crap food, drank a few too many drinks and came home to sit on the couch.
Wow! You are really disciplined right now. That's awesome!
Good luck running tonight and let us know how Superbad is... I want to see it!
I have been such a bloody grouch with all these early wake up calls. When winter rolls around I am setting the alarm for 7:30 and not veering from it.
