Rained Out

This week has me wiped out so far. As I mentioned before, I've been subbing for a sick colleague for her early morning classes, and me + early morning do not = a peppy Jess. Thankfully, she's beginning to feel well-enough to return to her classes tomorrow, so I get to resume my regular schedule. But, this afternoon when I got home, I lay down on the couch to read and within minutes, I was out.

After my long nap, I woke to find it pouring rain outside. I know some of you like to run in the rain, and I don't mind it sometimes, but to start in the pouring rain? No thanks. Not if I don't have to. Instead, I did some low-intensity yoga, some ab work, and 3 sets of push ups and I called it good. I know that this week is beginning to resemble last week -- running-wise -- so I'll try to get in a run tomorrow and Friday. I do want to re-establish a routine, but I have been finding that post-Chicago I seem to be lacking proper motivation. I'll find it eventually. It's gotta be around here somewhere.

For now, I am gonna drink my wine that I just poured and watch "Little Miss Sunshine," which arrived today via Netflix.

**Edit: At 8:15 pm, as I was about halfway through my movie and had just poured my second glass of wine, the phone rings. "Oh christ," I told my husband, "tell me I don't have to sub tomorrow." "You can say 'no,'" he tells me. I pick up the phone and hear the graveling voice on the other line. Yeah, she asked if I could sub for her again tomorrow morning (Thursday). Dammit. I wish I weren't so nice. I mean, I do get paid extra to do this, but it is draining and I have my own classes to tend to; plus, to be honest, I'd rather have the extra sleep instead of the money. Ugh. One last day of it. One last day.**

I agree, I like the rain if it starts while I am out there. I don't like to head out in the pouring rain though. Guess I am a rain snob.

I subbed for one class today, and I've gotta say that there is nothing more draining than trying to teach to a group of students that you've never met before. I can't imagine doing it more than the once.

Oh, so sorry the saga continues :( And it looks like you and I are both having some runners motivation issues lately. Oh well ... we go up and down I guess!

I love Little Miss Sunshine. I can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Sorry you have to sub again. :<( Try to think of something fun to spend the extra cash on.

Oh, sorry Jess. It is tough to be nice sometimes. Perhaps good Karma will find you, though, and something lovely will happen when you least expect it.

Hey, you're a movie buff. Have you seen "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" with Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer? It's from 2005, and I totally missed it, didn't even hear a word about it (could be because I was preggo that year and missed a lot of stuff). It was on HBO last week and DH DVR'd it for me. SO funny. Hope you can get your hands on it. My husband really liked it, too.

You'll get your running mojo back. I know you will!

I am with you. If it's raining, forgettaboutit! And snow, no way! But I am lucky I work somewhere with an indoor track so I can run on my lunch hour inside. Not too boring if I have good tunes on my Ipod. Thanks for visiting my blog!

I LOVED that movie! Cracked me up!

Just think of it as extra Christmas cash? Maybe that will help for one more day.

That movie is AWESOME, love the dance number LMAO!

I feel ya, I'm the same way when it comes to stuff like that . . .can never say no. Don't worry you'll be rewarded with karma soon enough ;D

Great movie! Hope you enjoyed it.

I tell ya, it's hard to get re-motivated. I'm not quite there yet either. I did a small 2 miles the other day, and it's just not doing it for me. I have got to get out there for a longer run to see if "it" will all come back.

I wouldn't worry about it, Jess. You put in sooo much training for Chicago and you're right for not feeling "it" just yet. Don't rush yourself - you've got time.

Hang in there, hopefully subbing will be over! We could use some rain out here, this 90 degrees and fire is getting old...esp in October!
