I Really Don't Want to Work Today

Seriously. I don't.

Part of me even considered using a sick day today just because I felt like staying at home. However, it feels like bad karma to do that because as soon as I claim "sick" then I'm sure to actually get sick. But I really don't have any desire to teach today.

I subbed for another class this morning for a sick colleague and the class, like yesterday's, was a nightmare. These two classes are college prep courses, so the students lack many desirable qualities: skill, motivation, and maturity. Thus, they are late, disruptive, and inattentive. The only good thing about subbing for these classes is that it has helped me appreciate the classes I do have (I may complain about my students from time to time, but on the whole, they really do work hard for me and I think I am lucky to have students who, in general, appreciate my classes and the work we do in them) -- however, that doesn't necessarily make me want to teach today.

Granted, in my own two classes this afternoon, I get to teach far more interesting material (we're covering Sylvia Plath's poem "Daddy") than I got to teach this morning (I got to teach them about sentence fragments -- not so much fun), but again, just don't feel like doing it.

Anyone else feeling the "blah" of Tuesday today? Is there a holiday coming up soon? I need a long weekend or something.

We should organize a Blogger Skip Day, kind of like Senior Skip Day in high school. :)

I can't get any work done today either if that is any consolation.

I feel no blah though, just madness.

Hang in there, Jess. Hopefully it will turn out to be a better rest of the week.

here! here! I said to DH this morning as I was stumbling around the kitchen "too bad we aren't the type to call in sick, I'd love to go back to bed for a few hours"! but nope...we pushed on through, and good thing since I get paid by the hour! :) Hope your Tuesday night is better!

I feel it too chica! I think it's because of the craptastic weather though. Even though it's 70 degrees out, it's still gray and looks like it's going to rain *sigh*

On my little desk calendar it says tomorrow is U.N. Day. Not sure how we should celebrate, but I'm game.

I have a serious case of "I really don't feel like doing anything" too. I just want to go on a mental vacation: read a non-school related book, take an excessive amount of naps, play video games, something that involves less thinking.

Its just that time of the semester, I guess?

I'm right there with you! Its been raining here for two straight days, and my students have been just as "blah" as me. Its really hard to motivated a classroom of 8th graders when you just want to crawl under the covers with a good book!

Its interesting at the college level because lots of them look at you like you are crazy :) I think younger "kids" still have some sort of admiration for teachers but college students basically think they know it all already. I couldnt imagine teaching anything to do with English...and yeah, I get the blahs on Mon, Tues & Wed ;)

Add me to the Tuesday blah list. I need Thursday night TV followed by a nice long Friday night.

We're almost there! Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years! It could be worse - it could be January!

Today was just one of those days. I didn't feel like working either. Actually, I feel that way most days.

Yeah, I thought it was wednesday yesterday. Blah.... Ready for the weekend.

We ALL have those days Jess. You deserve to have one and not feel guilty, regardless of how much you love your job.
