About an hour before my 3 miler this evening, the sky darkened and thunder clouds loomed overhead. I figured that was good: The rain would cool the day off and be over by the time I set out on my run. Wrong.
It was sprinkling when I set out and I thought: "Hey, I'm tough -- it's 3 miles; I'll run through it." At first it just drizzled on me, but it quickly upgraded itself and it started to pour. Then, I thought: "Okay, this is gonna suck" but I kept through it. Then, the wind kicked up and the rain started pelting me with sideways pellets and it began to pour even harder. I hadn't even gotten to the .5 mile point and I was completely drenched (shoes sloshing, shorts clinging, sports bra a soggy mess) and I could barely see, the rain was falling so hard.
"I'm not running in this kind of fuckery," I thought then, and I turned around.
So, my planned 3 miles? Yeah, turned into 1 mile.
For now, I'm glad I came in -- it's still a torrential downpour and the lightning and thunder are crashing around the house (better wrap this up before the power blinks). Damn you summer rain; we need the moisture, but you make running hard!

stupid ass rain.
Well, it is better than a hurricane or tropical storm. Ot monsoon antelopes or something. It COULD be worse! You still got ONE mile done.
FUCKERY. I love it. I've never heard that derivation. I'm going to use it as many times as I can in the next 24 hours!
holy jesus. it hasn't rained here in forever. we need it though....
one thing i like about rain is the way it's spelt. every notice what a cool combination of letters it is?
BCG: It's not my invention, so don't think too highly of me. I got it from one of Amy Winehouse's songs.
Scott: Are you high on some of the pain meds from your wisdom teeth extraction? "Rain"? Yeah, doesn't seem like a special word to me. Now something like "plethora"; well, that seems like a cool letter combo.
Damn, is it raining over in that neck of the woods every other day or what? Total suckage, but at least you got something in ;-)
Damn Scott, want to share? LOL
You are lucky you didn't get struck by lightening or pelted with hail. It was a mother of a storm last night. We didn't ride bike, we stayed inside and DDR'd. (Dance Dance Revolution). Laugh all you want, it's a kick butt workout.
this blog is always so rich with wordage (did i say that right?) lol and hey, at least your tried, a rain run *could* be fun, but not with that nasty ol lightening
you tried, not your tried.. sigh.
LMAO..Fuckery!
See if you moved here you would be getting the same weather..we have had thunder storms like you wouldn't believe as of late.
I "thought"of going out last night but didnt'...it was thundering...I'm to chicken to run in it.
the rain does make running hard. And it makes training even harder.
Well let's see fuckery/suckage oh and plethora all in one post, how awesome the wordage (oh darnery, Neese used that word already..sigh this cyberspace place is just too much fun......
What was the post about....oh yes that wet crap that we've had way too much of lately too...20 straight days and maybe still counting I think....SUCKS!!!!! But what a mile run that was, wet rat syndrome....
LOL! I am glad I am getting to this post late to read all of these comments! Suckage indeed with that rain!
