Instead of getting much Potter read yesterday afternoon, I spent several hours trying to fix the music situation on my computer and on my mp3. After two chat sessions and one phone call to tech support, I ended up uninstalling Real Player on the computer and reinstalling it (which means I have to completely re-do all my playlists, but at least I didn't lose any music), and I had to re-format the mp3 (wipe it clean) and then re-transfer all the music I want on there. It was a painstaking task that again left me frustrated with my mp3 and my music service (when I asked the tech guy why the mp3 had erased all the playlists on its own, he had no answer -- I would have been happier if he'd suggested gnomes), but in the end, I had my tunes restored, so I was pleased.
After spending that much time working on the music, I was excited to get out for a run and listen to it. I ran 5 miles, and while it was very hot, and very humid, I was happy with the run and the music made it so much more enjoyable. I need my music on a run like I need my coffee every morning -- it's an addiction, one that I don't plan to remedy any time soon.

Man that TOTALLY stinks about your mp3 player. I'm glad it's good to go now (and I'm crossing my fingers that nothing else happens LOL)
I hear you on the music. I used to hate it, but now I really need to have it. My runs wouldn't be the same without some NKOTB LOL JK!
NKOTB...whatever does that stand for? Coming from Marcy I'm almost afraid to ask, but curiousity is getting the best of me.
Congrats on running the 5 miles in the heat and humidity...it was wicked here again this morning.
Something similar happened to me with iTunes when I moved and switched internet providers. All the songs I'd downloaded from CDs remained on the iPod, but everything from iTunes disappeared. Thank god it was only temporary, but it took a good month to figure out how to get them back, with no help from Apple, those bastards.
So if I run with you will you serenade me? Just the thought of Marcy humming NKOTB on a run is worth a trip to Albany.
Are you planning to test the "friendly to all running levels" group again this weekend? My schedule is pretty flexible this week (well except for needing round numbers) so if you are avoiding the group, let me know.
as for books, I've never picked up Harry Potter and I'm not sure I'd enjoy it. I try to avoid buying hardcovers (I'm cheap like that) and I'm not sure I have any other requirements...
I love the whole concept of mp3 players, but it's just too much work for me. I'm one of the ONLY people at the gym who still brings a giant ass CD player.
OH man...taht sucks about having to recreate all your playlists and everything. Would have driven me mad.
Don't you just hate technology some time. And, how great is Harry Potter? I love it!
I really could not run more then 30 minutes without my tunes! Glad you got it working and great run!
i can't run without music either. i mean if my ipod runs otta juice mid run i can plod along, ok, but i would never ever leave home without it!!
