Running to Decongest

Yesterday, after 7 days off, I went for a run.  Not only had I taken 7 days off, but before that, it'd been weeks of nothing but 1-3 milers.  I don't feel like I'm "starting over" with running, but I do feel as though some ground was lost due to nearly a month's worth of illness.

Thus, the 3 miler last night was a bit laborious: My lungs burned a bit at first since I still have some major respiratory congestion, but I am the sort who believes that running is a good decongestant, so I figure the running is just loosening some of those goobers up.  After I warmed up some, though, the running went smoothly and it felt good to be back at it: My legs and my brain had missed it.

Afterward, I coughed for about 10 solid minutes, but it was "productive" coughing, so it was annoying, but probably good to get some of that gunk out.  Now, if only running could help unplug my ears; I'd like to be able to hear again.

I'm hoping a run today will will eradicate this headache I've had since last night. I'm refusing to succumb to the local sick bug that's bitten everyone in my office. Feel better. Cheers!

Running (and exercise in general) is a great way to get the crap, crud and everything else moving out of your body.

Once everything drains you'll be able to hear again. When one streak breaks, another begins right?

Good job. I can't imagine running with a congested chest. It's bad enough with the soupy thick humidity we have.

Isn't gunk what automobile oil turns into?????

Man, that gunk has stuck around in your system for a long time. Glad you felt well enough to get in a decent run.

Running takes patience. I've learned the hard way also. There's a part of me that wants to just go out there and run like crazy because I see other people out there doing the same thing. But then there's a part that tells me to take it easy. What should I do? I've decided to look at local gyms that have great treadmill equipment. I've found a few but I havent dedicated to one particular for now. I've found a site that is very helpful that allows me to search for the best kind of treadmill to look for. Try looking at Home Treadmill Reviews. They have tons of equipment reviews that will put you on the right path.
