Tuesday Tidbits

As far as the race plan dilemma for this weekend, only Marlene seemed to understand that trading days isn't a workable option if Jerry and I are striving to give one another equal "alone/sleep" time when she noted: "I was going to suggest day-trading, but then I realized that doesn't really work - then Jerry would be up early with Norah one day so you can race and one day so you can sleep in. ;)"

Right. Jerry up early two days in a row, and Jess with the "luxury" of racing one day and sleeping in the next. Not a trade he'd make...unless I sweeten the deal with some sort of lurid promise...but I'm too tired for that.

We'll see about my decision regarding racing this weekend. I think it will be a last-minute call.

In other news, I had a doctor check up this morning (baby brewing is humming along just fine) and while we were in the waiting room and Jerry was chasing Norah around, I was ignoring them both (hey, it was HIS idea to give her a sucker to distract her, so HE had to deal with the resultant sugar-induced mania), and I was reading an article in Fit Pregnancy about running and pregnancy. The article was discussing how strenuous exercise, like running (or, as they referred to it: jogging), is perfectly healthy during pregnancy -- even beneficial! It described all the great aspects that a woman can enjoy from strenuous exercise during her pregnancy, and I had a little snicker over the article since it presented its discussion as if this were landmark, groundbreaking news.

Sometimes, I feel so superior to pregnancy literature ;)

i understood that "trading" wouldn't work - but since you already knew it wouldn't, i didn't feel the need to comment about it.

i'm still guessing that you'll end up racing though :-)

We knew you were superior to the literature all along. :>)

Glad the check up went well. That must've been pretty amusing reading that article with it's latest and greatest research backed articles. *smile*

I'm happy that more people know this now. I don't want to get the eyeball later on if I'm jogging around.

Oh right, I didn't even think about how he'd get up early twice.

Ha ha yeah, I totally agree about the pregnancy literature. I love the one about the 140bpm - apparently that was dispelled by ACOG years ago yet everyone's still scared to get their hearts beating! Ha ha.

Big "yay" for staying fit while baking a little one. It seems a little bit more mainstream now--I love seeing baby bellies at the gym!

Good to know!! You are my inspiration for running while pregnant! I hope one day I am lucky enough to do the same.

Already have the baby jogger...

I just read your dilema with missing your sleep in day this weekend for a 5K run, if I could sleep in I would do it every time possible! I envy people who can sleep in, I have no ability to do so, it is rather frustrating. And when you have another little one to run after you will wish you soaked up these sleep in days you and Jerry are trading off so nicely!

My wife and I are really having a hard time balancing everything. It is actually harder (I think) because she stays at home.

But, I suppose we'll get through it eventually! :)
