I Know I Sound Like a Broken Record

But, it's true: It's not the heat; it's the humidity!

This morning, I got up early for another AM run and at 6 am, it was 81. Yeah, that's pretty warm, but it wouldn't be half as bad if it weren't for the fact that it was 82% humidity, with a dew point of 75, which means the "feels like" temp was 86 degrees. Let me just repeat that: 82-frickin-percent humidity! It's like running underwater.

Now, I know some of you who are forecast to receive snow this weekend don't want to hear me bitch and moan about 80 degree weather, but seriously, I know to expect temps like this in June, July, August, even September, but by October, it's generally cooling off some and it actually becomes somewhat pleasant to run here in South Florida.

Oh well, at least I got today's run out of the way this morning before it reaches back into the high 90s again. Plus, I suppose when I'm forced to consider the alternative, I am happy to settle with heat and humidity over snow...I'd probably have to wear more than just shorts and a sports bra to run in that, huh?

As much as I hate the cold, I think I hate the humidity more. Running in it is the worst. In that situation, I will take my weather over yours!

we were just scouting out your weather and it is brutal with that humidity...yikes.

It is raining, raining, raining here....and our long Thanksgiving weekend to boot.

For us folks in Houston, I think Mother Nature is paying us back for the stellar weather that we had through June.

Actually, I prefer snowe over 81 degrees and I definitely prefer snow over 82% humidity! UGH!

have a good weekend!

One of the pre-race e-mails I received today suggested wearing a mask to keep warm. A MASK!

Its okay to complain about the weather! We're runner's! And 82% humidity just sucks, along with snow drifts 4 feet high!
Glad you got your run in! Have a good Friday! :)

Man those are some pretty warm temps! I'd be wondering where fall was too!

I'm with you, the heat (and humidity) sucks, but it's far better than snow!

The humidity sucks, for sure. I think I'll take our snow over that. In the middle of February? I'll probably change my tune.

Hi, I just wanted to say I was doing some online research about running while pregnant for a romance novel I'm writing, and I've been reading about your journey this year and appreciate your honest and inspiring posts!

I think I'm going to buy me a good pair of running shoes and maybe try your 21 days!

Oh suck it up! The warm weather during fall and winter is why you people live there to begin with. If you don't like it, move north. Sheesh!

Ditto here in Houston. I ran this morning at 6:30 and the temp said 78 with 98% humidity...so it was really about 85. I was absolutely drenched by the time I got home and I only ran 3 miles!! But the cold front came through this afternoon (with rain)and last time I looked it was a wonderful 63 degrees!!

I was reading along and with each post about the weather kept thinking "she MUST be from Florida." And then I checked out your profile... and indeed you are.

Well, my friend, I feel you. Doesn't it seem like these last few weeks have been perhaps even more humid than a month ago? I'm bewildered. And, let's be honest here, it certainly doesn't do us any favors with the running - that's for sure. Ugh. Supposedly we'll see a drop in temperatures on Sunday... for like a day. I'm looking forward to it nonetheless.

It's true. You discover new levels of sweating by running south Florida. It is epic.

I swear, one time I jumped in a pool after a long run in Miami and came out drier than when I went in.
