First Day of Daycare

This morning, I was up and awake for a 5 am 3 miler, but apparently, the Garmin was not. It kept losing its signal, so I have no digits for the run. But I swear I did it.

But, onto what's really on my mind today: D-day. My first day back at work and Norah's first day at daycare. Of course, I took a few pics of her to commemorate her big day, but this one is the closest I could get to a smiley pic: She looks like she's either stoned or has gas. It's hard taking pics of babies, or at least it is with my camera which has a few second delay from when you press the button to when it actually snaps a pic, so she could be bright eyed smiles one second, but by the time I get an actual picture, she looks like this:
Oh well. Maybe one day I'll splurge and get a fancy camera that actually takes the picture when I press the button.

Right now, I'm feeling surprisingly calm about the afternoon's drop off at daycare, but I'm sure the waterworks are waiting until after I drop her off. At least I know Jerry is close by and he has ensured me that he will stop in and check on her this afternoon. And afterall, she'll be at DC less than 4 full hours. She'll be fine.

Whether or not I will be okay is yet to be decided. Thankfully, today and tomorrow are just "duty days" (heh, I said "duty"), so I don't actually teach class, which is good because if I need to cry, I can do it in the privacy of my office and pretend I'm crying about hashing out my syllabus.

That's a hard day! My littlest just completed his first full month at daycare. Luckily, I had been able to bring him to work with me for the first year. Only delaying the inevitable, really and I cried the first week. Max, he was fine and had fun with his new friends. I am sure Norah will be so happy to see you at the end of her day! That will make up for the absence!

You sound awesome! And Norah is getting cutter all the time! Don't hold back on the tears, sometimes it just feels better to let the crying out and get it over with! Good luck! :)

(Awesome job getting up for your run - good way to kick off your first day back to work)

seriously, look into getting a nikon d60. It's a digital slr camera (not a tiny point-and-shoot that takes amazing pics. it's fast enough to capture a smiling baby. it's the best thing we've bought since we had kids.

hopefully it went well. i had a lot of tearful days between day 1 and age 4. some days it's easier and some days it's harder. but my daughter is growing into a beautiful confident young women, so i'm sure in the end it all worked out fine. :-)

I said before that Norah looks like a doll. I showed the pic to my mom. She didn't think she was a real baby until I scrolled down. She's such a cutie.

i hope the first day of daycare went well! honestly, i don't have kids but i can't imagine how difficult it is to leave your child with somebody else for the first time. i get a little anxious just thinking about it.

anyway, i hope you and Nora had wonderful afternoons. she's adorable whether or not she's smiling, so keep the pictures coming :)

So i went to check out daycares one day...and at one of them they were talking about how important it is to be comfortable with where you leave your child. All of a sudden I started bawling my eyes out...couldnt stop! I was mortified. I also hadn't slept at all the night before and it was the 1 year anniversary of when my Dad passed away...but it was still just incredibly embarrassing. I'm sure I'll have some good stories about really leaving my kid there...haha.
