Candy, Costumes, and Big Girl Pants

Yesterday, Jerry, Norah and I went shopping and ran some errands, and at the top on our list of priorities was to pick up some Halloween candy. Yes, I know that it's only October 4th, but dammit, it's a month of guilt-free candy eating, and we're not gonna slouch in that department!

We also shopped for Halloween costumes. Jerry, of course, has been planning his costume for months, so he's nearly done. He is going as "Alan" from "The Hangover." I couldn't find an image of him from the movie that I could copy (legally), but if you want a looksie, go here. So, Norah is going to be an accessory to Jerry's costume, but we also wanted to get her her own costume, so we found one for her at Target. She's gonna be a hot dog. Trust me, it's cute.

As for me? Yeah, I found zilch. Unless I want to be a Sexy Ho or a Skanky Eskimo or something, there's not much out there, and I am not feeling very creative this year, so I'm in a bit of a conundrum, so I am honestly thinking of recycling a costume from a previous Halloween. Unless you guys can offer me a good suggestion: Whatdaya think? What should I be this year?

Lastly, we went out to dinner with some friends last night to celebrate a friend's b-day, and for the occassion, Norah wore an outift that required her first pair of pants! Look at her, not at me, and no, this is not what I wore out to dinner -- I was still in the sweat pants and haven't-showered-yet phase.

Her first pair of "big girl pants"! Man, they grow up so fast!

Very cute! We were planning on halloween shopping for Miller today but he's sporting a 100 degree fever and a cough. We still may run some errands but they will be very short if he's along. I think I am going to bail on a costume this year and wear a halloween t-shirt.

I loved The Hangover! That is such an awesome idea. You could go as the Heather Graham character (sounds like you already found costumes that would work). :)

I agree that one should not skimp on candy during the month of October. I actually started purchasing mine in September, but I'm still pregnant, so I feel as though I'm entitled.

Norah is such a cutie! I am not a costume person, so I usually just end up putting on a hat or mask last minute.. kinda boring.

She's very cute. If you just aren't feelign it this year, why not recycle an old costume?

Too cute! love Jerry's idea for halloween, and I am sorry I am not very creative at all, so I don't have any ideas for you!

Super cute picture of Norah! her complexion looks amazing!

I love Jerry's costume idea, I think a buddy of ours is doing that too.

I think I'm going as Kate Gosselin... you can buy a wig that's cut for you already to be her, but I found a blonde one for super cheap that I might try to cut myself.

big sunglasses, normal clothes- simple and I can wear it to work!

Yeah...I usually wear one of those big orange t-shirts that says, "This IS my Halloween Costume" or something like that...but LOVE Jerry's costume. Can't wait to see Norah in those sunglasses!

Norah's so cute in her pants! Usually I dress up for Halloween and also wear my costume to work. However, last year and this year I've been having trouble finding something to wear. Most things in the stores are just not work appropriate and I am too tired and overwhelmed to try to make something. I may just buy a Halloween themed T-shirt this year. Keep looking, though...maybe you'll find a gem out there!

What about being something related to Norah's hotdog costume - like a bottle of ketchup (wear red and a red party hat the the very top cut flat?) or relish (wear green with squares of green attached?). I'm all about the make your own costume to save money.

Or you could be a mummy (mommy)!

Sorry if those are super tacky :)

She was so cute last night-loved the big girl pants on her! I could use some polka dotted pants as well, but not sure if I'd reach the same cute effect.

It was good to see you guys last night. Can't believe how big she is already!

Norah looks so sweet in her little big girl pants! Can't wait to see the pics of the hot dog costume . . . you should put Scooter in the same costume - they would look like twins!

I bought my Halloween candy around this time last year - and ate all of it (like 5 bags) by Halloween and had to go out and buy more. Never again ;)

I've been out of halloween costume inspiration for years. I'm glad Jerry is holding the torch high.
