Cool 3 Miler

The cooler weather must be effing up my Garmin because I stood outside waiting this afternoon for a signal for nearly a full 5 minutes. When I still didn't have satellite reception after that long, I decided to screw it, and I just used the stopwatch feature to time the run; besides, I know my 3 miler like the back of my hand, so I don't need the Garmin to help me calculate the distance. However, without its actually "Garmin-y" features for the run, I couldn't calculate my exact pace (well, I could but that would involve a lot of numbers and I'm allergic to math) and I don't have splits.

So, I only gots one number: I did the 3 miles in 27:14, which is an average pace of 9:00/miles. Sweet. This cooler, drier weather makes the running SO much easier: It's easier to breathe, I barely sweat, I feel cool, and I don't tire as easily. It's glorious!

We dont have humididy here anywhere like you do - but I learned last year to really appreciate the cooler weather. In fact, I enjoyed running in the snow even ;)

Nice 3-miler!!

Do you get tired of running the same route over and over? I have several different routes for each distance and mix it up constantly.

Nice job on the run. I went out for what I thought would have been a 3 miler, but being new to the area, I was only able to log 2.92 miles. If I would have known, I would have done an extra run around the block!

That sounds like a really nice run. :)

Before we moved, I had this route that I would run like three times a week. Same route, every week. Sometimes it would drag, but other times, the familiarity of it was like a big hug of encouragement to keep me going. I miss that run.

May-December was another way of me saying my husband is much older than myself...

Great run! I love fall for that very same reason. You don't feel like you're breathing with a wet washcloth on your face the entire time.

Woo-hoo! so glad to hear we are sending you some cool air down there. It's amazing how much easier it is to run in the cooler weather. I never realized how much living in Florida was holding me back! Haha.

Of course there is a flip side. It's SNOWING like 20 miles from my house. EFF that!

My Garmin has been misbehaving as well!! It even clocked me at a 5 min mile! LOL!

Glad to hear the weather is cooling down for you guys. You had a nasty summer.

Yea, my Garmin does that too sometimes. It's like, to hell with this, I'm outta here... I got the Garmin 50, and I'm seriously considering the footpod just for that reason.

Nice job on the 3 mile run!! It's hard to run "naked" when you're used to having the data at your beck and call.

That would be 9.04...

I too have had the Gramin like issues you spoke of. There are too things I do to combat this:

1) If my route begins at my home, I set the Garmin out on the porch while I am getting ready so it can find satellites.

2) If I am travelling to a park or somewhere, about five minutes or so out, I turn the Garmin on and set it on the dashboard.
