First Day Back

Caleb was all smiles when I left him at daycare.

And I still cried.

Norah cried when I left her.

And I cried some more.

But, I know Norah only cried for 30 seconds or so, and then she was fine.  I knew she would be, so we (Jerry met me there to ease the transition, and he knew I'd probably need a hug after leaving them, so it was the two of us dropping them off) made our exit as quickly and painlessly as possible -- in my experience, leaving kids is like pulling off a band-aid, best to do it as fast as possible; lingering is harder on the both of you.

Both had a good afternoon and I got a lot of work done in my office in preparation for my classes.  Plus, I got to enjoy some of the aforementioned perks of being back to work (ie, peeing by myself).

So, all in all, it went well.  And man alive, the day went by so fast!

Glad the drop off went reasonably well. How nice of your husband to join you!

Wow back to work already?? Hopefully the daycare drops offs get easier for all of you. Yay for peeing by yourself!

Glad your first day back went well. I agree, the quicker the daycare drop off, the better.

Yay! Now the pressure of "1st day back" is over! Glad it went as well as it did. :)

Kelley never could drop them off at daycare. I had to do it every. single. day. She didn't have trouble picking them up. Actually, it was just Ella at the time. After 4 months back to work she couldn't take the day care anymore at all and switched to stay at home mom.

So jealous you got to pee by yourself! Now mine are 6 & 4 and they still walk in on me just about every time.

I'm glad I haven't had to do the dropoffs. They're tough. Enjoy your Fall. I'm sending you a mental "bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils." :)

Oh that first day back :( so sad dropping them off! I hated it too. I did exactly what you did - I had to be in & out or I was going to loose it further! Glad to hear your day went fast. I read your previous post I to totally feel you on the pumping at work thing. I despise it but I am getting close to my 6 month goal with nursing, I take it one week at a time....I hope to get through this next 5 weeks to my goal.

Aww Jess, it must be hard to leave those kiddos. But it sounds like it went as well as it could. I love back to school time too - hope you have a great year!

I am loving your blog as I am a first-time-mom and a runner. I have a 2 month old and my first day back to work is tomorrow. I've been dreading it for SOOO long. I applaud you for getting in your runs. Unfortunately, I'm still walking and trying to find the time to get a run in. Hopefully, once I'm back in a routine with dropping the baby off etc. it will get easier. Thank you for being so honest and vulnerable of your feelings. It's helping me cope with my own!

man, I miss peeing by myself (or even just peeing when I WANT to, not when there is an opening).

Its been almost three years since I had a good pee.

As you know, it gets easier. Glad today went pretty well.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that in just over two weeks I'll be dropping off a 4th grader and a kindergartner! Time just flies!

I am glad that transition went smoothly. It's good to get some "adult" time in so you feel normal. :)
