The Best Laid Plans

Last night, I had planned to run.  But then Norah once again took longer than expected to go to bed, and before I knew it, my evening -- and my chance to run -- were shot.

So, then, I thought, "Well, I'll do my best to get up early tomorrow and run in the morning."  Ha!  I was up at 12:00, 1:30, 3:00, and then 5:30 last night.  Think I was up for an early run this morning?  Nope.  Didn't happen.

It's easy to feel frustrated with these "interruptions" to my planned running, but I'm doing my best to remain flexible and to simply acknowledge the blatantly obvious: I have two kids -- a 2 year old and a 2 month old -- it's gonna be tough to find time for any "planned" activity: If I get to eat a meal sitting down and take a shower at some point, my day is a success!

Still, a running Jess is a happier Jess, so Jerry promised that tonight he'd MAKE a run happen for me.  I'm lucky that even when the kids don't understand that Mommy needs to run, Daddy does!

You should start tracking "hours lost" and once Norah is old enough to understand - well, you know...

Good luck finding time to run. I've got a 6 year old and a 2 year old and it's still hard finding time between my running and my wife's Zumba classes.

I only have one toddler and I'm still finding it hard to get runs in. I try to get some indoor cross training in but nothing beats sweating in the great outdoors. Enjoy your run tonight!

Glad you have Jerry to help give you that much needed Jess time. You'll have a nice balance. Kuddos on the flexible attitude! That will save you a lot of unproductive stressing out over "missed" miles.

It's best to get yourself to some "mommy" time. If running is what you need for that time, it will be time worth spent. I am glad that Jerry stepping to help out.

I can't even imagine trying to find time to run with two little ones. It's good to hear that your hubby understands and is willing to make it work for you!

Jerry's a good man (of course, he knows he benefits too in the form of a happier wife. Beer Geek figuring that out early on certainly played a roll in keeping our marriage strong LOL).

Nothing is predictable with a 2 month old. Wait, you can predict when they will surprise you: all the time. take whatever miles you can get.

This is so my life. I hope you get that run in today, I know when you "need" to run it is the only thing that keeps me centered in this world I think!
