This morning, Norah and I went for another 3 miler. The air was thick and humid, so when we got back, I was soaked in sweat. I always feel bad for Norah when I'm so sweaty because by lifting her out of the stroller and carrying her around I coat her in my sweat -- gross.
Combine that with the fact that crawling around the house all day gives her dirty feet and knees, and she frequently gets her meals squished into her hair; so by the time we get somewhere like the Mommy and Me class we go to on Wednesdays, she smells like a locker room, looks like I let her loose on a dirt farm, and her hair is crustified into a faux-hawk with little bits of food smeared betwixt her fingers.
Lovely.
The other moms must take one look at her and think about phoning in a hazmat team.
Oh well, a nice grime-coating creates a thick, protective shell -- kind of like a forcefield around her!

Parenthood mantra: White blood cells are good!
This post made me laugh, just found your blog today and it's fabulous! She'll be the well adjusted kid of her set of friends and the one without the issues =)
Haha! At least the other mommies will keep their kiddos and their icky germs and snotty noses away from her...insuring a healthy baby!
:) Love it!!!
I second Turi's comment.
Norah will be the healthiest kid around. She'll look like Pig Pen from Charlie Brown, but by god will she be healthy. :)
Hopefully this means she won't be one of those squeamish girly girls afraid to get her hands dirty!
I agree! Norah will be a super healthy baby!
Love the description!
And, just think, she's going to have the immune system that rocks!
Hazmat Team = chuckling...
But I bet she's happy as hell!
Dirt builds up immunity. At least that's my theory. Sophie is a dirt magnet AND she is going through a bath-hating phase right now. I'm surprised child protection hasn't been called yet.
I like the forcefield theory.
Funny. I love the thought of a force field. When I pick up the little one (who I left at the sitter with eggs already in his hair) I will remember that all the extra dirtiness he has accumulated throughout his day is simply added to his protective shield!
"We've all been there" is the parenting mantra I cling to in times like these. :)
LMAO!
LOL yep dirt works!
You're just building her immune system!
does she get covered in bugs??? cause I swear they are all over me when I get home!
It's helping her body build immunity - I say dirty her up!
My kids are 3 and 7 and LOVE to be outside. I have taken them out of the tub before and after draining it found a ring of dirt and nastiness. I figure it just means that they had a great day. :)
I believe it's called a bath ...
I think all babies are like that.
BTW thanks the advice and encouragement in my comment section. I don't think I can hack 4 am though - you are defintely an inspiration.
