Not as Planned

It's 5:36 am and I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but...I wish I were running.

Because that's what I had gotten up at this early hour to do, but instead, I am sitting here in my living room with a baby is too awake for her own good. Normally, Norah sleeps until about 6:15-6:30, but she must've heard me up with my pre-run routine and she decided she wanted to be up as well. I tried several methods to get her to go back to sleep, but she's having none of it; apparently, she's decided that she's up and it's time to party.

Not cool.

I've been seriously thinking of buying a jogging stroller (we've held off in doing so primarily because they are big, we live in a small place, and storage is an issue for us -- so we've tried to not buy too many bulky baby things), and right now is one of those moments when I really wish I had one: I could toss her in there, go for my run and I bet she'd fall back asleep.

Hmmmm...perhaps it's time to go hop on Craigslist and see if I can find myself one.

Yeah, it's time for Norah to start getting her run on. Good luck with the running stroller.

We bought a baby trend expedition deluxe from Babies R Us. It's big, but it folds up, so it's easy to store. However, living in Michigan has its disadvantages...I'm not taking the baby out until it's at least 50 degrees!

We were up at 10pm with a coughing baby. 2 year molars are on their way. Nothing a glass of milk, a shot of tylenol, and a conversation couldn't cure.

Get the stroller. You will use it and enjoy it.

I am having the same issue this morning. Thankfully, my daughter is tormenting her older brother and he is keeping her entertained.

I have the Baby Trend Expedition as well and it folds up pretty nice. I end up storing it in my car when we are able to use it because of space issues.

Give Norah a taste of race hardware and look what happens!

I'm always in awe of people who run with jogging strollers. I think I'd trip over the stroller. I am not the most coordinated of folks though. I think you should go for it. Maybe they have some that fold up.

We bought our Bob Revolution jogger on craigslist from a grandma who thought she'd use it with her grandkids. It was only used once and had all sorts of accessories. It folds up pretty compact - kind of.

look around and i'm sure you'll find something awesome and inexpensive.

I really regretted not getting one when my son was little. If you could make it work I am sure you will love it.

If your condo is small, you can always store a jogger in the back of your car. We did that in Texas for a while. Oh, someone else suggested that, too!
The BabyTrend jogger does fold, but for the miles you put it, I'd go a couple steps up in quality. I had a babytrend and I left it by the dumpster when it was a year old. I just hated it. Bought a Baby Jogger off ebay and between walking and running I've put over 4,000 miles on it in 5 years. I love it.

I think a jogging stroller would be a great idea... hope you can find a good deal. And maybe one that's compact?

All plans are perfect until they meet bebe :-)

They joys of learning that your schedule is no longer yours. Good luck with the jogging stroller. It would be a nice investment.

Go for it! I loved my jogging stroller when my daughter was little!

You can borrow ours until you get one. Miller's buggy that attaches to the bike converts to a running stroller.

I agree with Jamoosh - its about time Norah starts running! Good luck in finding one that is compact, I've been checking them out and they are all ginormous!

If not a running stroller, how about a backpack? Have a good weekend. Cheers!

Also, Shannon and I just checked out this place in a stip mall on Hiatus and 595..(winn Dixie complex) its a baby to child consinment shop...I noticed they had one. Didn't look at the price, sorry. It might be worth a look. If not for that other things...

I vote you get one. You'll be one of those hardcore moms running like mad AND pushing a kid.

Definitely get one, but make sure you get a real one like a BOB or Baby Jogger or such. You run enough that you don't want to be messing with the heavier, lower quality ones.

Email me if you want me to do a bit of research for you. I used to know which ones were best, but my "baby" is old enough that I don't use one any more.

I'm not a huge fan of the jogging stroller as I find it harder to find my running groover, but I have to say some days they are a must! We also don't have a lot of space, so my advice is look for one that folds up so you can hang it up in your garage or closet when you aren't using it. ;)

Good luck searching for a running stroller! I bet she's ready to head out on the road with you!

Must just be a lucky day. Brooke woke up and hour early ready to party today too. Then she crapped out an hour before her naptime :)

I have one and love it! Go for it, I haven't even run w/Eli in as of yet but lots of walking while on maternity leave. Now that he has neck control and upper body stregth I can take him running in it. Just waiting for the cold weather to go bye bye and the snow/ice on the groud. I can't wait!

Okay, I'm still a long way from babyville (as in a few years...) and I've already started thinking about jogging strollers. (I think I'll be able to talk my running mom into buying one as a shower present.) I can't believe you don't have one! I definitely think it'd be worth the investment.

I have done those super early mornings runs with the jogging stroller - sometimes they fall back asleep, and sometimes they scream the whole damn time. Either way you get a run in. :)

Hope you got your run in eventually. It is frustrating to want to run when you can't. Maybe the jogger could substitute as a coat rack for multi purpose!

you should totally get one!! it will be a good investment!!

Especially if you can find a good deal on one...then you have it. Like a few people said store it in the car for a bit or in a corner. She will be running along side of you before you know it!

we got one at wal-mart. L.O.V.E. it. it is a two seater, comes with a cover for rain and debris, AND converts easily to a bike trailer. best of all, IT FOLDS FLAAAAAT. yep. schwinn makes it. here's a link.....

i highly recommend it, and it won't break the bank.
our little Bryce rode in it for many miles last summer, and was usually asleep within half a mile. he was always excited to use it!

neither of my kids liked a stroller of any kind, but if she likes being strolled, i think a running stroller will pay off for you in the end...

i keep mine in my car - glad you got in the 8 - it's brutal when you have a plan and then baby wakes up!
