Racquetball Report

The good news is that I didn't totally suck.

The bad news is that I wasn't totally awesome either.

I played like a person who hasn't set foot on a racquetball court in about ten years.

There were 4 of of us, so we started off by playing a doubles game, and I think it's safe to say that we were all running around like chickens with our heads cut off: None of us really had a rhythm and it's kinda crowded with 4 people on a court. So, after 2 games of that, we split off and played singles. I got crushed (15-0 and 15-6) in my singles games, but I felt like I was starting to rediscover my game and we had some good rallies. After 2 games of singles, we re-joined for one last doubles game (my partner and I won the doubles match, but that was largely due to his skill, not mine).

All in all, it was a really fun hour and a half of exercise, and I think if I started to play again regularly, I could get better. Which, I probably will get the chance to do if they keep to a Tuesday night schedule (although, I think Jerry and I might trade off since he'd also like the chance to play).

So, this morning, I woke up thinking I'd hardly have the use of my right arm, but I was surprised to find that while I could definitely feel the effect of those 5 games, my arm was surprisingly not stiff or sore.

This morning, then, I resumed my regularly scheduled form of exercise: Running. I got up early and went for an easy 3 miler (31:32). And I kicked ass at that :)

Hooray for Racquetball! My only concern is that if racquetball becomes your new thing, then Bowling will not make a comeback. Woman - I need me bowling story!

Glad you had fun. Sounds like you got a good workout in as well. Nice job on the half too. I am a little behind in blogs.

i would suck worse at raquetball than most other things. i always end up getting hit with the ball in the back of the head. it's not fun.

Falling somewhere between "totally awesome" and "totally suck" is a good thing. :)

I wish I could get back into playing racquetball.

Yeah - what Jamoosh said. When do you start bowling again?

Glad you had a good time last night!

Regular racquetball would be great cross training, and fun!

Amazing how fast ten years seems to fly by.

Good news that you didn't totally suck! Sounds like a fun way to mix up the exercise.

It's funny, while I was reading this post and the one before it, all I kept seeing in my head was Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer all hitting up the racquetball court on Seinfeld! LOL!
Awesome job on kicking some ass - your predictions were right!

Wow, doubles? I can't imagine the chaos. Though, the last time I played (also closing in on 10 years) was with a guy who is 6'6", which was made the court pretty crowded. Cheers to racquetball.

I only played raquetball once in college and not even really by the rules. But it is fun to go knock the ball around!

Just wanted to de-lurk and say hi...I have been reading you for some time..I must say you are very motivating to me as a runner. Can't wait till I can do a half marathon myself. Hope you don't mind, but I added you to my blogroll. Happy Thursday!

I loved playing racquetball when I was in college (yes...the sport was around THAT long ago). Last time I played, I swing the racket too hard and hit myself in the head. Two stitches. Not Pretty.

Glad you're more coordinated than I was. I'm afraid to play now.

After having used a $20

straightener just to see if I'd actually use one if I had it, I finally stopped wanting to fry my hair, and decided to upgrade. I picked this one out because of the long titanium plates, and because I'd

heard an alarming amount of bad things about the Chi flat irons. I have been so happy with this straightener. My hair is super straight, smooth, and shiny. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair since

using it. It's glides right through my thick, stubborn, wavy hair. One stroke usually gets it perfect, some extremely stubborn parts take two. It's so easy and fast to use. I've got so much hair (a

hairdresser once called me "Mufasa", if that's any indication), and I'm done in about 15 minutes.

I have been searching for the perfect curl cream for most of my 33 year lifespan and I believe I

have found it in this product! I have a lot of fine naturally curly hair and this cream is great. Keep in mind, however, that a little goes a LONG way! For example, my hair is down past the middle of my back

and I use approximately 2 teaspoons. I apply it when my hair is wet, right out of the shower, and then just scrunch with a towel and that is all the product I need! It is a little costly, but this bottle

lasts me about 4 months.
