Today, Jerry and I went and did some serious shopping. We're going on a cruise in less than two weeks and we both needed some "cruise wear," and because the primary purpose of the cruise is to attend our friend's wedding, we also both needed to find something for the wedding. Jerry needed more than I did, but my wardrobe is trickier.
See, my regular clothes still fit (although, I have to admit that my jeans are starting to feel rather snug), and I don't need maternity clothes yet, but I need clothing that is, for lack of a better description, stretchy.
Thankfully, I found a cute sundress for the wedding itself, and I found a few skirts and shorts that have enough "give" that they will work well. And, I bought a new swimsuit. Not a maternity swimsuit (my god, they look ready to outfit Shamu), but it's a tankini that I think will do the job. Plus, Jerry was very successful and found everything he was looking for -- but I swear, for men, it's way easier!
But in addition to the clothes, I also got Jerry's his Valentine's Day gift: A new wedding band!
See, because he's lost close to 50 lbs over the past year, his wedding band was about 2 sizes too big and it was always slipping and sliding on his finger. We had both talked that it should be re-sized, so I told him that for V-day I'd pay for it to be re-sized. Well, we went to the jewelry store today and discovered that it really can't be re-sized. Because his ring is stainless steel and gold, most jewelry stores don't have the necessary machines to work with a tough metal, like stainless steel or titanium, and those that do have the machinery charge quite a bit to re-size rings made of those "hard" materials.
So, we decided it might be easier, and less expensive, if I just bought him a new ring. He was hesitant to flat-out replace the old ring, but we found a ring that looks almost exactly like his old one (same materials, same design) that fit and was 70% off! I bought it for him today and now he gets to walk around with a shiny new wedding band!
All in all, it was a very successful shopping trip, and we had a nice lunch, and when we got home, I took a 90 minute nap. Ahhhhhh. But, I need to hurry up and get ready for dinner with friends this evening, so I'd best be off! Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday!

What a GREAT day!!
It's hard enough shopping for clothes as a woman. I can only imagine how difficult it must be as an expecting woman.
Glad you found a new ring for Jerry. Congrats to him on losing 50 pounds. That is crazy!
Great shopping success!!
That reminds me, I need to go shopping soon too.
I wish my friends would get married someplace where I get to go on a cruise. Why don't they think of others when they're planning these things?...
Nice! A cruise! Sounds like you had a successful trip.
Great idea with Jerry's V-day gift too.
I love you V-day gift for Jerry. That is so touching!! I need to get thinking for Hubs!
OH, the in between stage. So much fun to shop for NOT! Glad you found some cute stuff!
Sounds like you had a wonderful shopping trip. I always hated shopping ahead while I was preggers. You never knew what would fit down the road. Glad you found everything you needed.
Sounds like a great day! I could totally use a vacation right now, and a cruise would be right up my alley.
My hubby and I got new rings a couple years ago. When you have been married as long as we have the rings just give out. Plus I confess I wanted an update.
Spiffy new clothes for a cruise....yahoo....and a nap! I think a nap might be in my Top 5 next week, it's the best!
Shopping so fun ...cruises are even more fun!Great job on the runs..you are still speedy even with the lil peanut on board
You should tun the other ring into a necklace and make bear where it around his neck. Then you would have double the ownership power over him!!
I love shopping days! Sounds like you are set for the cruise. That is an awesome deal on the new wedding band. Congrats to Jerry losing the 50lbs. That is incredible!

That is great that Jerry has lost 50 pounds!! How did he do it? Wait, don't tell me, counting calories and exercising?! See, I know what I need to do, but I don't always do it.
I'd offer to loan you some of my maternity clothes (when you need them), but I'm guessing they'll all be too long for you. You could check them out though...
I always hated the awkward stage when you are too big for regular clothes but too small for maternity.
50 lbs is amazing! Now that he's running so much he is going to lose even more.
I wish I could go shopping. Stupid economy.
