Confessions of a Slacker

I'll be honest: This week has managed to wipe me out.

In part, this is because my classes are now in full swing, and the work is pouring in, so simply getting through the work day zaps me of my energy. But in addition to work, I just feel plain-old-fashioned-tired this week. Each day when the alarm goes off, I feel like I could sleep for hours more. And I've been going to bed early!

Fatigue is a natural part of pregnancy; this baby-brewing is a lot of work for the body and it takes up a lot of energy. However, up until this week, I've been able to suck it up most days and get myself out on the road for runs, which always helps boost my energy.

But as I already said, this week has simply kicked my ass. I get home and honestly just want to crawl back into bed.

So I'm behind on running, behind on blogs, and all I really want to do right now is curl up on the couch and watch "Top Chef" from last night (since I can no longer stay up late enough to watch it at its regular time).

Dang woman - you're makin' a varmit! Give your body some time to get used to this new thing.

You'll be out packin' in the miles in no time!

In the mean time - relax. Just relax. You're getting sleepy. Very sleepy...

Give yourself the rest you need. You're no slacker!

Baby brewing is tough. Take some time for yourself. Milk it now because after the baby is born, you won't ever sleep the same again.

On a personal note...I have been up for over 36 hours for work. My sleep deprived state wasn't so bad since my body remembers how it was when Miller was born. I guess it trains you for something!

Get some good rest this weekend - you're almost there. You can do it!

You have every reason to be tired. I get like that sometimes, and I'm far from being pregnant. Just try to get the rest you need.

I don't think you're a slacker! You're working hard growing a baby.

You are no slacker! You are still doing more than most people who aren't pregnant. Pregnancy is a lot of work. Get all the rest you can.

I could barely do anything but sleep during my second trimester- my third trimester though all I did was work...I couldn't stop nesting! so get ready- it's coming! :)

What you really need is sleep. Honestly, the best thing for your body in the first Trimester is relaxing and resting. Then the
2nd Tri you should feel on top of the world with energy!

I think I mentioned once before that all I seemed to do when pregnant was eat and sleep. I was tired all the time. Get the rest you need - your body is busy!

You forgot to mention putting up with Jer-Bear. That is just about enough to amek anybody want to hibernate.

Give yourself a break. For real. Your body is asking for it. When you start getting antsy to run, then you'll know it's time to kick your butt into gear.

I thought you might find it interesting that my "word verification" word is SPERMU. If the next one I come across is EGGU, then the third will most likely be BABYU.

Does it console you to know that I have to tevo top chef EVERY WEEK and watch it the next day because I am too tired to watch it at the regular time - and I am NOT pregnant. You deserve a break! Do Not feel bad or guilty about it at all!!

You are a strong woman and I am so impressed that you are keeping up with all you running and exausting students.

(sidebar - as a student myself; you know, if you didn't assign so much homework, you wouldn't have to do so much grading ;))

There's no exhaustion like pregnancy exhaustion (except maybe new baby exhaustion, but we'll keep that to ourselves for now).

Enjoy a quiet evening on the couch!

Yea be sure you get plenty of rest. You will expend an extra 500 - 1000 calories a day just growing the baby. So be sure you are eating enough for the both of you and your runs. Good luck getting your energy back. i posted a good story this morning about my kids if you want to see what you have in store.

Yup baby brewing is hard work!! Eat well, rest well, run well :-)

Enjoy this time and enjoy being pregnant. At least you have a good excuse why you aren't running. Me on the other hand, I got nothing.

Don't beat yourself up. You're one of the most productive people I know- you are always working out and checking things off your to-do lists... You need a break, especially when you're preggers!

You're not a slacker so don't be too hard on yourself!

I think being tired is normal. Heck I'm wiped out and I'm not even carrying a baby with me.

BTW, what did you think of the eel? Yuck.

Take care and don't beat yourself up.
